    Detergent Allergies

Has anyone tried a laundry detergent called "Charlie's Soap" Laundry Powder. It is actually laundry detergent, but its called Charlies Soap.-- A long story that is on their website. It has no optical brightners, perfumes, dyes at all. It's not cheap, but you use one Tablespoon per load-- in an...

Combo52-- Thank-you for the correct information. I was not thinking when I posted that comment-- The dryer will probably quit before the paint wears off the drum. I was a lot easier to find the Whirlpool dryer as well. I had to go to a small dealer out of town to find the SQ washer, and he was...

Speed Queen salesman comments on water level - true?

Jeff and Rex Jeff and Rex-- If a washer says it is "Energy Star" approved, run like hell-- It doesn't use enough water for squat

Speed Queen salesman comments on water level - true?

You will Love it Galli-- you will love that machine. The first thing I noticed when going back to the SQ traditional top loader, is my clothes were softer and smelled better- I got rid of a $1200 Whirlpool duet- I hated it. It takes water for fabric softener to work!

I Love Mine I have the AWN412 ($650) and love it- When I want an extra rinse, I just wait until the washer quits and turn it back to rinse. If you use fabric softner and it goes in the first rinse, the second rinse gets rid of it. Its all a matter of personal tastes. I bought a speed queen...

    What kitchenaid is this?!

I wish the government would stay out of my Washer, Dishwasher, Refrigerator and not tell me what kind of lightbulb I have to have. We have plenty of water here in Alabama-- not that we should waste it, but when an appliance no longer serves it's intended purpose, what good is it?

No Auto Temp Control I forgot-- It does not have auto temp control-- You get pure hot from the water tank on hot, and pure cold from the tap on cold. But your warm is not really warm. They have set the fill valves to about 70/30-- 70 percent cold and 30 percent hot to make the warm mix. So...

Speed Queen salesman comments on water level - true?

Its True I have the speed queen AWN 412 that I bought in Aug 2012-- It does fill about 3/4 or a little more full-- You can make it fill all the way up by holding the knob on reset and then releasing it when its full. But there is an easy adjustment to the water level you can do yourself--...

Looking to purchase new washer/dryer set & need feedback

SQ Washer and Whirlpool Dryer I have a top load speed queen I bought in Aug 2012 and I love it-- I got rid of a $1200 front load whirlpool duet. It did ok, I just prefer lots of water to wash my clothes. You can't beat a basic Whirlpool dryer with the lint screen on top-- they are not that...

Garage door opener light won't stay off!

It has to have motion sensors where the door goes down. It's required by law and has been for over 15 yrs. They are usually a small square box near the floor on each side of the door. They have "eyes" that must line up or your door will not work. When something or someone breaks the beam...

New acquisition - Vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster

Love the Mixmaster Seeing those mixers brings back fond memories. My Grandmother had one and she finally wore hers out. She got it for a birthday present in the 50s. Hers was like the one that looks like it has eyes on the front rather than the large disc. When she died, it had quit working...

has any members seen the new whirlpool duet steam washer dryer set

I should have come here and asked you guys about this machine-- but to be truthful, I did hate the long time it took to wash, so that was probably my main reason getting rid of it. I didn't realize some of those cycles used a good bit more water-- I should have read the manual more closely.

It all comes down to what you like. I really hated the long cycles but I'm glad you are getting great results with your machines. I threw a lot of money down the drain by selling them for less than 1/2 of what I paid, but hopefully the new owners are enjoying them. I used the normal/casual...

SPEED QUEEN The best New Washing Machine you can buy today IMO is the Speed Queen Top Loader washer. They are very basic well made machines. It was the closest washer I could find that was like my 1996 Maytag Dependable Care machine. Speed Queens have an all metal transmission and an outer...

has any members seen the new whirlpool duet steam washer dryer set

another comment I had a Whirlpool Duet Front Loader in 2004--- you could actually see water in the bottom of the tub when it was washing-- it came up on the window an inch or so, so you knew there was some water in there. You could never see water in the drum of the newer Duet I bought last...

Hated them Yes-- I had a set that I bought last year along with the Pedestals. See Picture below. I hated the washer-- I kept it a year and a few months so I would feel like I got some use out of it. You can't get stuff really clean with a thimble of water. If you have anything really dirty...
