    NHS Standards For Hospital Laundry

Water isn't disappearing, per se, but the human population vying for its consumption is increasing. On average, the world population increases by several hundred million humans per year. That greatly impacts how much potable water is consumed solely for survival purposes, but increasing...

New Pod On The Block: Wisk Deep Clean Power Blasts

Score! Was in Target today and nabbed a 48 count bag of Wisk pacs (just like Eugene's photo at the top of the thread, but a larger quantity) on clearance for $4.98. At that price I figured why not. Wisk liquid is very good stuff so I'm hoping the pacs perform just as well.

    NHS Standards For Hospital Laundry

There is NO water shortage on this planet. Yes, Washman, there is a water shortage. California is currently having the worst drought in 100 years. Water is a finite resource, and we ARE running out of it.

    Quiet Fridge

We have a Jenn-Air bottom-freezer refrigerator that was purchased in 2010 and is nearly silent when running. The only time it makes any noticeable sound is when the icemaker drops the cubes into the bin.

What ever happend to trash compactors?

Combo52/John: Thank you, I very much appreciate the clarification and understand that you didn't mean to offend. We're good! Back on topic, trash compactors always seemed to me like a smart idea. My partner grew up with one and has long said he'd like to have one again. However, so much of our...

What ever happend to trash compactors?

Combo52 Are you saying that because I prefer gas cooking to electric it's because I'm too stupid to figure out electric cooking? Not cool, dude.

Preference of Gas or Electric ranges?

I have to agree with Kevin on this. All of the gas cooking appliances I've used have been of modern origin (1970s onward), and I've never seen any indication of filmy residue or off-putting smells in the air. That may or may not be true of older, vintage gas cookers; I have no experience with...

Preference of Gas or Electric ranges?

Broiling On the subject of broiling, my gas oven has an infrared broiler in the top of the oven cavity, as opposed to the the type of oven with a broiler in a drawer beneath the oven cavity. My oven does not have a drawer under it and I have no personal experience with that design. Mine is a...

Preference of Gas or Electric ranges?

The arrangement I'm most used to is a gas hob and an electric wall oven, although we've had an all-gas 36" wide range for almost four years and it's been my favorite thus far. The moist heat of the oven bakes beautifully. I could live with an electric oven again if I had to, but the hob/cooktop...

    Norge or Westinghouse?

Indexing tub for sure, but it might be old enough to have a porcelain-on-steel tub instead of a plastic tub. I'm guessing that it has a straight vane agitator and not the ramp style, but I could be mistaken. In the mid '90s I had a roommate who had the Westinghouse version of that set. The...

Ranges...What was used most in your area..

The most common set-up amongst people I knew in my area was a gas cooktop paired with an electric wall oven or double-ovens. I knew very few people with free-standing ranges, but do remember a few people who had Jenn-Air and Modern Main drop-in downdraft electric ranges. When I finally had my...

Wine Glasses in the Lower Rack.

Do it! My stemware goes through the Miele in the lower rack all the time, even on the Pots & Pans program. They are thin Riedel and Spiegelau stems. I've broken several washing them by hand. The dishwasher? Nada.

Solid cap lint filter in powerfin agitator?

Just saw this one on Portland CL and wondered why this maching didn't have a FS dispenser. Is this what you mean? I'm most curious what the row of buttons next to the timer dial does. The middle button seems to have a lengthy description. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/app/4042270976.html

    Miele G2150 Diamante Dishwasher

Under "Specifications" in the installation guide for your model it says: "The dishwasher comes equipped with a 4 ft (1.2 m) power cord with a molded plug for connection to 120 V, 60 Hz, 15 A grounded receptacle." Does that help with regard to power draw? With regards to utilities usage it also...

    Miele G2150 Diamante Dishwasher

Detergent dosage With our very soft municipal water it only takes about 1 TBSP (or 20 mL at most) to clean a full load on the Normal program, or one detergent tablet. The only time I use detergent for the prewash is on the Pots & Pans program, and even then it only takes about 1/2-1 tsp to do...

    Miele G2150 Diamante Dishwasher

The "Rinse" light is a bit of a misnomer. It means rinse in the sense of a shower, as in when the machine is circulating sprays of water versus ceasing action for a drying phase. Glad to hear all is well and that you're enjoying the machine. The Pots and Pans program has yet to disappoint me on...
