    1955-56 hotpoint dishwasher Something's missing

I wonder...... if the 24 inch Hotpoint models (like mine and this one) were introduced in mid to late 1955??? Seems like everything I've seen on the older ones showed the wider ones. If it was late 55, you really got a great find since yours would be one of the earlier produced 24 inch...

    1955-56 hotpoint dishwasher Something's missing

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I saw your unit on Ebay and was so hoping it would be going to a good home. As many know about me from my old posts, I had hunted one similar to yours for many, many years, and finally got a 1958 this past Fall. I'm sorry that I'm not knowledgeable enough about the mechanics...

Need help for a friend with a 2006 Frigidaire..

Heavy Duty Commercial top loading washing machine. He has an extreme chemical sensitivity so he's limited as far as detergents, so I thought I should put that out there at the top. He uses All brand Free & Clear detergent in his machine and despite his attempts to reduce the recommended...

    Favorite Movie or TV Kitchen

I guess my favorite movie kitchen would be.... the one in which Debbie Reynolds cooks for Dick Powell in 1954's "Susan Slept Here". I could just move right into that apartment as is, but the kitchen was particularly "me". I'm no expert but I think the appliances were Western Holly and maybe a...

    Can anyone ID this stove?

Thanks Guys! I appreciate you clearing up that little minor mystery for me. Thanks to Moparguy for the picture showing more of what the stove would have looked like. I knew I came to the right place for an answer on this. :-)

    Can anyone ID this stove?

This was an old family picture that I guess "slipped" from getting the girl in the sweater and got the stove instead. This was taken in March of 1961, so I know the stove is earlier than a 61. I've always wondered what brand, model, and year this was, so I will be curious on the answers. Have...

Love your giant candle Hans! Now why can't I get that song "This little light of mine" out of my head? You will be the envy of your neighbors with that cool candle being on display. Congratulations!

Great Shape Vintage WestingHouse 1950s Baker & Roaster - $35 (Snellville)

I have a little later (1956) model Westinghouse... roaster like this. It has the baking racks, the glass dishes with lids, and the plug in broiler attachment (that is still in it's original box). Had everything but the cabinet and a manual. I got a replacement manual/cookbook off Ebay...

    Turquoise...

Congratulations PhilR!!! I too, am a turquoise fan, and also a huge fan to wall ovens/cooktops. That set you got is really beautiful. I have a GE set that I was thrilled to get when I found them 8 years ago. Good luck finding the washer/dryer set you want. Love the refrigerator too!

Hi xpanam! You realize that without you finding the Craigslisting on this......I would not be in Hotpoint Heaven. Hope you are blessed with every single vintage appliance your heart has desired for as a reward for your good deed! Hi, Norgeway. I have not forgotten about the better pics of my...

    Vintage Finds Online: Part Four

OOOPS! Mom corrected me..... the metal around the burners was white, not stainless steel on our Sears pull out stove. Funny. 36 years after she last looked at that range, she still make her "icky" face when I showed her this. I still love it though.

    Vintage Finds Online: Part Four

The 1963 Sears Pull Out.... is almost identical to the stove my parents had in their first house here in Arlington, VA. It was a 1941 built home but had the appliances updated before we bought/moved in during January 1965. The stove in the pics above seems fancier than ours and has color...

1957 Pink Hotpoint Dishwasher, Oven, Stove Top

Thanks Peteski50.... I've been going out to the garage as much as I can to stare at it, open the door, roll the racks in and out, etc. I suppose it's still that thing of "I gotta go make sure I'm not dreaming and that I really do have my dream machine out there." LOL. Westingman123...

1957 Pink Hotpoint Dishwasher, Oven, Stove Top

Thanks TurquoiseDude and Westingman123 You guys are so sweet, and your comments just ramp up my feelings about Miss Harriet. As far as Melmac dinnerware, I grew up with the two sets you see here. Windsor Melmac in the "Rainbow" offering with two place settings each in pink, yellow, blue and...

The 1959 Westinghouse L-1000 and D-1000 Come to Maryland

What an amazing set! Those give me the urge to put on a matching Rosewood colored shirtwaist dress, grab up my wicker laundry basket and get started on the week's wash. Wouldn't get another blooming thing accomplished because I'd be too busy sitting in front of these beauties looking at the...

Might not actually add any real strength.... but I really love how extra strong this door design looks with that wall around it.

1957 Pink Hotpoint Dishwasher, Oven, Stove Top

The colorful swirl I remember from my youth... I can see where this machine might not be the most efficient at getting everything as clean as later units with more standard racking, spray arms etc......but nothing beats that Hotpoint Swirl when you have colorful dinnerware to rack into it.
