I remember in the 60's and 70's most of the laundries I saw were equipped with Speed Queen machines. I was always amazed that those machines could literally run 24/7 non stop for years with no problems and many of them did.

What would be the approximate year of this machine? Back in the 50's & 60's they certainly made some heavy duty machines.

Opinions certainly seem to vary don't they. However, I have had more than one Kitchen aid dishwasher and most of the new dishwashers put the old ones to shame, anemic spraying or not. Of course they take about 4 times as long as the old machines too.

This was the last hurrah for the solid tub speed queen washers. The next models that were made after this had the perforated tubs.

It did the same thing that speed queen, GE and multiple others did and spun at a much slower speed and/or hit the outside tub if it was grossly unbalanced.

Does anyone have or has anyone ever seen a machine like this one? It seems an odd bird indeed.

The easiest ones are the ones you have a service contract on and can call someone else to fix! LOL

I did have 5 of the washers and 2 of the dryers like those back in about 1976 when they were new. Used them commercially and one set at home. They weren't very good for holding up in service. The washers and the dryers had various problems and didn't last more than a couple of years or so...
