I would walk by an old-time small department store on the corner of 14th Street and First Avenue to see some of these juke-box machines in the display window. Never had the courage to actually walk in to the store to examine them (I don't know why).

I finally saw one at John LeFever's museum and a TOL machine at Jon Charles' house and they did not disappoint. Don't care what Consumer Reports said about them they are amazing inventions. Now we have documentation in Ephemera.

A HUGE thank you to those responsible for their providence.

We had a chain of stores called Otasco that carried Philco, Leonard (rebadged Kelvinator) and Tempmaster (rebadged Norge) machines in the 60's. They were all fascinating machines to use and watch. Many of the Leonard machines had glass lids to show off the action and the other's would allow the washer to operate with the lid open.
