A couple possibilities for cleaning....have a cup of HOT water and a soft tootbrush to spend several minutes just massaging the hot water onto the areas. Just keep at it awhile...eventually things free up to some degree. If it looks like no damage is going to happen, spray on some 409 cleaner...
