    Looking for a Blackstone Mangle

John I think you might be right. I seem to remember the dryer being wider. In addition, the dryer door has the extra piece to fit inside the round opening. Probably designed to keep tumbling clothes inside the rotating drum. Best I can offer is some advertising material.

    Looking for a Blackstone Mangle

What a shame about the condition of the dryer? Will you be able to restore the doors? I have doors from the 250 washer. Pretty sure the same doors fit the dryer. Can't help you about the mangle, though.

Season 2 Episode 2 Hazel New Turquoise Philco Appliances

Speaking of Hazel and Color..... ....back in the 1960s, when TV shows widely adopted broadcasts in color, Hazel was one of the first to have the yellow color prominently used. The yellow color was difficult to reproduce in 60s color TVs. I remember my father pointing this out; I can't verify...

Thanks to John & Ben I took your advice, and listed the stove at $125. Sold in one day, with no haggling on the price.

GE electric stove, 10 years old, what are my offers?

You are correct, sir. The model number is JBS55DM2WW. When I list this stove, are there any special features that I should emphasize? I need a good reply to whoever says, "But, it's a 10-year-old stove."

GE electric stove, 10 years old, what are my offers?

John, I know that $20 sounds cheap, but most people responding to CL or FB ads are also cheap. I'll advertise for maybe $50, but settle for $20. Unfortunately.

GE electric stove, 10 years old, what are my offers?

Model JBS550M2WW. Serial AT2 026940. I just got this stove from a friend of my brother; looks clean enough to be in good working order, but I don't have 220v to test it. Offering it first to anyone here. If no takers, then Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. Stock image; I could provide...

    Gas Stoves and Indoor Pollution

Renovation vs. New Install The article argues against gas stoves/appliances, but these arguments would only be applied (practically) to new installations. The cost of replacing gas with electric would be prohibitive, considering the existing risk of keeping the gas. In my situation, an old...

    Gas Stoves and Indoor Pollution

I suppose that the facts in this article are true, but are we really going to phase out gas stoves in all households and businesses? In our lifetimes? https://www.vox.com/energy-and-environment/2020/5/7/21247602/gas-stove-cooking-indoor-air-pollution-health-risks

    station wagons: 1957-90...

1960 International Harvester Travelall. Not quite in the same class as the other wagons pictured here, but this one could easily carry a refrigerator. Very low tailgate, since the gas tank was under the second row of seats. My father bought it in 1960, and kept it for 30 years.

    Comcast Scam Warning!!

Position your mouse pointer on the suspect web address. The actual address to which it points will display after a few seconds. If you see a ".ru" suffix (Russia, in this case), or anything out of the ordinary, don't click on it.

    Mom buying a Maytag, 1947

Anyone can colorize photos using the MyHeritage website; unlimited for free for a limited time. I have colorized a lot of old family photos. Most look great; others, not so spectacular. The baby would be 73 years old now, if he didn't get kidnapped.

    Mom buying a Maytag, 1947

Baby in carriage on New York sidewalk, 1947. I don't remember where I found this old B&W photo, but I just colorized it (MyHeritage.com). Mom probably went into the store to buy a Maytag washer.

    Washer rebuild

The Wrench! In case you missed it, the highlight of the video was the wrench (with my name on it). Kidding aside, this is the best video that I have seen in a long time. Great work! It sure is easier to put in the washers on the outside of the tub when the cabinet it removed. Even when using...

Any Ideas on How to Clean This Old Stewart-Warner TV Banner?

Before and After I just used dish detergent and laundry detergent, total of 5 applications, using a clean rag to concentrate on the worst spots. Removed most of the stains, and did not affect the printing. I'm satisfied.

Any Ideas on How to Clean This Old Stewart-Warner TV Banner?

The material is woven, probably some type of polyester, judging by the feel of it. No label. I highly doubt that the stains are organic. Just wondering if dry cleaning would damage the printing. Would the dry cleaning process have to be done to the entire banner, or could the process be...
