When did Maytag start to go bad?

I've updated that thread with all the images properly inserted as I see it didn't make it through the conversion to the new site... https://automaticwasher.org/threads/opinions-needed-on-souping-up-a-1970s-helical-drive-maytag.79805/

When did Maytag start to go bad?

The one you linked are the ones I've generally used. I believe I only have one pump with an external fan like in the image you show, although I've had no issue with it as well.

When did Maytag start to go bad?

Okay I'll bite, what exactly is wrong with those GE electric pumps? I've used them for decades in my custom builds and not one has ever failed on me. I've even run them for 15 to 20 minutes at a time for recirculation without any issues, although they are not suppose to run for that long...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

No that agitator is from a 1961 Easy Automatic Washer. I installed it by cutting a spare Easy agitator shaft down to a proper size to fit and used a shaft coupling. I designed this machine to spin at 1050rpm. The inside...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

My soup'd up Maytag with a 3 phase DC motor installed and motor controller, all controlled by the Maytag's original timer lol...

Agitator fins keep breaking on Speedqueen top loader.

Did you check that with a very full wash load? A small load might not cause the issue to show up.

An Interesting Lesson About Replacing Motors

I have no doubt about that John now too. What threw me is that same motor has worked flawlessly in the Apex for the past few years. It just the difference in motor clutch designs. It's good to know about those motors codes now.

An Interesting Lesson About Replacing Motors

An update so after asking AI about this and uploading to AI the images of both the Emerson and Dayton motors labels, it responded with an answer and now I understand why the Dayton motor couldn't properly start in the ABC vs the Emerson motor. From now on if I need to replace a motor I'll use...

An Interesting Lesson About Replacing Motors

So for over a year the motor in my '49 ABC-o-Matic washer has been making a rattling/clicking sound when running. It didn't matter if the belts were attached or taken off to run with no load on the motor it made that odd sound. Last year I took out that motor out and took it apart to try and...

Dry Agitate With Basket Full of Clothes

Yes that is absolutely true, although with the 1950-1958 Frigidaires they all have a variable wash time setting timer so they will fill for 4 minutes first no matter where you set the dial in that wash period portion of the dial. With the Philco, ABC, Kelvinator, Apex and early 1947-1949...

Dry Agitate With Basket Full of Clothes

In the late 50s Consumer Reports mention this as a possible issue with clothing damage if user isn't careful to set the timer properly...

Pink 1957 Frigidaire Control Tower Set in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area...

Well that's too bad about some not being able to see the videos directly uploaded to the new AW site. My phone is less than a year old so I assume the quality of the video is too high for older computers. I see the video just fine on my 2019 laptop using chrome.

Pink 1957 Frigidaire Control Tower Set in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area...

Well I've never!! lol. No it's real Ken, no need to do any photoshopping when you've learned how to make silicone molds and reproduce rubber parts nearly identical to the originals. Now you've done it, you made me walk into the kitchen and take a video :giggle:.

Apex Model C portable dishwasher - never used

No I don't believe I do Chet. By "purge" if you mean a drain between the 1 wash and 1 rinse then yes it did. All it really needed was a couple of extra rinses and it would have been a much better performer.

Pink 1957 Frigidaire Control Tower Set in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area...

Turquoise wasn't introduced in the Frigidaire line until 1958 along with Sunny Yellow, before that the '57 came in Pink, Sea-Foam Green, Stratford Yellow and White. Later on in the year by spring of 1957 they also introduced Charcoal Gray. I agree though a Control Tower set in Turquoise would...

and remember for who ever gets this set, your agitator could easily look like this with a new set of reproduction detergent cap, lint chaser and circulator rings and brand new reproduction pulsator. They could be made in the original 1956-1957 gray or all pink to match the machine!

An Angel Gets A New Set Of Wings

So the rubber wings on the agitator of my 1949 ABC-O-Matic automatic washer were getting really bad and starting to rip. So it was time to make a new set... Here is my beautiful ABC-O-Matic, it is the earliest model I've ever seen with the original style spin clutch which was on top of the...

    Samsung 240 volt Vented Combo!

I've seen those and like them overall however personally I would never own a modern front loader without a water heater. When I select Hot I want hot and not warm as they don't use enough water to keep the water hot. I know some here might think a heater isn't necessary but you're never going...
