    A Sunbeam Dishwasher!!

And from Sunbeam's home page: From refrigerators and microwaves to washers, dryers and ranges, consumers know they can depend on Sunbeam®. Down below: Recall Information for Select Gas Ranges I thought Sunbeam was effectivly dead after that chainsaw CEO came through a few years back and...

    What I did Saturday & why I don't shop Wal-Mart!

Sears is #2 on my $#!tlist after Wal Mart. The one in Wayne, NJ, the employees are too busy yapping on their phones about their latest boyfriend's bling bling Escalade, to actually help you. Wal mart? I avoid them. I don't like their bussiness practices, I don't shop there. Pretty easy in NJ...

    Digital Broadcast TV

I'm holding off on HDTV until the FCC decided the ATSC standard is REALLY what we're gonna use for the next 20 years. Remember, the broadcast TV standards changed a few times, and the current NTSC standard is the 2nd color one the US has used...

    STRANGE BRAND NAMES

Actually, it's an urban ledgend - the Nova in fact sold quite well in south America <br There's a brand of gas downthere called nova too, I think <br "No va" and "nova" are different things, and in any case, the connection's fuzzy - you wouldn't say "no va" in Spanish or "doesn't go&quot <br...

    STRANGE BRAND NAMES

<i>the "buick Bronx" lol.</i <br Actually, more like the Buick Coffin. I haven't seen anyone below age 70 driving one.. <br <i>It's interesting how therewere so many appliances that were named with women in mind. such as you mentioned Imperial, and also Lady Kenmore, Epi-lady, Lady Schick...

    all new ge washers

The old Filter Flos sucked water, though. They had a few less than great design features, but they sure didn't die easy...

    Frig "multimatic" whats this ?

Tha'ts a power resistor. They can get pretty hot, though if it glows, there's something wrong :) If it has a rating in watts, that'll give you an idea, though it looks to be on the order of 25 - 50 watts.

    Bob Barker retiring

Being around those Barker Babes(tm) can't be so bad either. Rumors abound - he's a dirty old man, too...

    Most Vintage Reciever?? BENDIX transistors!

Bendix transistors? That's nothing, I've got a Bendix TV set :) And, it's a darn nice design - needs a new CRT and a little more TLC and cabinet TLC (sat under a tarp for a year outside - It STILL wacked me with the high voltage when I variac'd it the first time!) Oh, but it could get stations...

Fluorescent lighting, and the mercury issue

I had a few GE CFLs a few years ago. Great lamps, only real defect was they took a few seconds in the cold to get bright, and when they failed, holy crap, you knew it! *BBBZZZT!*

A Rareity, A GE in Australia

from memory, two speed in the US worked like this: * The motor was single speed. * The clutch had two pieces - the inner piece was effectively a standard GE cluch. * There was an outer shell. It had a set of shoes that were pressed in by springs and slid out under centrifugal force. * This...

    all new ge washers

Man, GE's getting cheap these days, huh? I guess the rumors of them getting out of appliances really are true? (Oh no!!! Washers don't make enough money for us!!! Wall street will hate us!!) Frankly, with GE being nothing more than a whore to Wall Street thesedays, I give 'em maybe 15 years...

    Suds-cake

My mom says a bit of fabric softener does the trick too. I'm jealous, I haven't gotten a washer to overfoam in ages :( The closest i've gotten was a tumbler at the laundromat. Not as much fun.

Maytag Regular VS Extra Large Capacity

I thought point 9 on the GE sheet was a bit silly - you can pretty much do anything but pump/motor/belt changes on a GE through the top, can't you? Interesting they argue the extration on their washers could match a Unimatic, etc. Anyone wanna vouch for that one? (We have coin op Maytags in the...

Maytag Regular VS Extra Large Capacity

Did Maytag have sheets for GE, etc, or was Kenmore their favorite target with that sell sheet? Speaking of which - this was a time when Sears only sold Kenmore, and Kenmore was only sold at Sears (remember that?). Did the other manufacturers have an agreement to not bash each other, but poor...

    Powders on way out?

Powders are grerat for me because I rent, and have no washer of my own. Instead of lugging the detergent bottle around, I can just dump a scoop of powder into a shirt, and then toss it into the washer, shake the powder out. What I *really* miss are the TABLETS. I LOVED TABLETS!!!!! They were...

The end of Kodachrome super 8

GRRRR, they're trying to kill Kodachrome, period. Basically, to apease Wall Street (Look! We're killing off old film lines!), and basically to apease the EPA (Kodachrome's chemicals are slightly nasty, though I don't see why they're any worse than anything else). Kodachrome is the only readily...

    100 lb Edro Dyna Wash

very easy to program too. Heheheheh >:) Now, imagine 8 of those, with 10x the I/O, in fridge sized cabinets of guts. All talking to each other :) That's what I get to do in life hehehe :) PLCs are great - they're so innocent looking, then you get a few together and they become a big monster :)

    100 lb Edro Dyna Wash

Why does white plastic turn fag ash yellow?

Here's the GOOD NEWS: Keep that Super 8 in a good cool, dry, dark place. If it's Kodachrome, it'll keep its color....for decades. You can still find Super 8 projectors readily, so it's no biggie (yet). but yeah, any Kodak super 8 projector is basically a time bomb that'll blow up in use.
