Combo, that's a good point about the stroke length and clothing damage. The FF always did a short stroke, but with its ramp agitator, it could move clothes fast. The same stroke with the straight vane gave marginal turnover in the bigger capacity machines. So it stands to reason that if you...

OK, here goes my sick mind again.

And remember, a sick mind is a terrible thing to waste!!

    kitchenaid Memories

The KitchenAid washer is very different than the standard Shredmore. It is the same machine, but it's not really the same machine. Similar underpinnings, but all except the BOL KA washers utilized a longer agitator stroke with a slower wash speed, and a larger agitator base than the standard...

    Calypso vs. Cabrio

Hey Darren, did the pictures in the manual make any sense to you as to what to look for on your machine? Just let us know here and we can at least try to point you in the right direction, though it should be pretty straightforward as there isn't all that much to it. Hopefully you can "see" the...

    Calypso vs. Cabrio

Darren, check your email. I sent you along the Calypso service manual and some instructions on what to check on your machine and where in the manual it can be found. Please let me know that you got it and if it helps or not.

    Calypso vs. Cabrio

They're terrific washers, once you really learn how to use them. I'm still not sure it's a washer for the masses...just too different, easy to oversuds and overload, with poor results. Unfortunately, the machine usually doesn't tell you it's overloaded or oversudsed, you just see poor results...

    Calypso vs. Cabrio

Darren, That's definitely a problem. The machine should be steady even with a large load. I do the dog's comforters in mine every week (queen size), and wash my king comforter and bedspread with no problem. Suspension stays steady. Could be a bad strut...the machine has 4 horizontal struts...

    Calypso vs. Cabrio

That's a good point Jason....they made these machines so large (the new OCB models are supposedly 5.0 cu. ft) yet the dryer is the same dryer capacity wise. Seems kind of silly to wash such a big load and try to cram it all into the dryer at once, so it really doesn't "speed" things up all that...

    Calypso vs. Cabrio

The Calypso may win for wash action, but the Cabrio holds a larger sized washload, which may be important for someone with a larger family or larger items to wash. The Cabrio is most likely easier to service than the Calypso, too. If the Calypso had the Cabrio's capacity, I could probably pare...

    thank you so much to

THERE IS A PLACE There is a place, far away, But not so far, you can't "visit" each day. It has rolling green hills and bright blue skies, Just beyond the "view" of HUMAN eyes. Where butterflies dance in the morning mist, and the dewdrops sparkle with the suns first kiss. Furred, hooved, and...

this is why folks are concerned about the health bill

The "cost" to companies is found in their losing their tax writeoffs for retiree health benefits, which they will no longer be able to deduct since they won't have to provide them under the bill, which closes those benefit loopholes. It's not a direct cost.

this is why folks are concerned about the health bill

That's right...it's YOUR responsibility. But it's governments responsibility to make sure all CITIZENS have equal access to health care. And right now, that is not the case in this country because access is controlled by a private industry whose main objective is profit in most cases. An...

Are gas ranges on their way out?

This is a great thread!! So many options out there. I bought a JennAir semi-commercial gas convection range two years ago. It replaced a GE coutertop gas cooktop and electric wall oven, neither of which were anything to write home about. Personally, for various reasons, I think they both...

Coming Eventually, the New and "Improved" Super Forum

Jef, while I agree with you that an open forum is precisely that, open - it does not mean that anyone can just post anything to it that younger eyes can read. And what belongs in an Open Forum is up to the site's moderator, not its members. There is such a thing as social responsibility...

Coming Eventually, the New and "Improved" Super Forum

Personally, I think some of you folks are too damned sensitive and judgmental. Some just can't see humor in things that are actually funny because everything is taken so damned seriously sometimes. But that's my opinion. I don't give a crap what people say, or how they say it, that's their own...

Have you adjusted the maximum water level of the machine beyond the factory settings? Or does it fill all the way to the top at the highest setting??

Have we finally grown a pair of balls?

Keven, why do you always feel the need to stir the shit? To say that with or without you, that this is a forum that does not fulfill our desires is just arrogant. This place is many different things to different people, including its creator and I don't think you're in any position to say...
