Cooktop advice 12,000 vs. 15,000 BTU

Tom is absoultely correct. I have a JennAir semi-commercial gas convection range. There is one 17,000 and one 18,000 BTU burner that sit in front, and a 12,000 and 6,000 BTU simmer burner in the back. The heat this stove generates is incredible. If the gas broiler is on, forget it. It's like...

    Coming Out In Middle School:

"I said it's a non-issue for many (maybe most) Americans, and poll numbers consistently support that claim, e.g. 80% of Democrats and Independents, and a slight majority of Republicans now support legal recognition of marriage or civil unions for same-sex couples" While the numbers definitely...

    Coming Out In Middle School:

"The primary nail in the coffin of institutionalized bigotry against gay people is the fact that sexual orientation is unchangeable." You assume that everyone knows and understands this to be true, but that is absolutely wrong. Don't make the mistake of extrapolating your knowledge (and actual...

Results of the Cash for Clunkers Program

But no one knows what condition those supposed clunkers were in. Under the terms of the programs, vehicles were supposed to be 1998 or older, so some of these make no sense at all.

Canada is looking good -"Charles Darwin film 'too controversial for religious America'"

It will run here...maybe not in the mainstream theaters, but it will run. It's too controversial not to, and there are too many in this country that would like nothing better then to ram it down the throats of the religious right!!

    Health Care and the US

What I've seen of some of the debate and rhetoric of the recent months, I liken to the "dumbing down" of America. The incredible stupidity that has been flying back and forth from all angles has simply amazed me. DEATH PANELS???? Please, give me a freaking break. Socialized medicine??? How...

    EVERYBODY should read this!

Toploader1984..... I sold my 1997 Frigidaire Gallery front load washer and matching electric dryer with reverse tumble action (neat feature) to my next door neighbor when I moved here in 2000 because I needed a gas dryer in my house. That machine is still going with no problems for her family...

The other Kitchenaid was sold... What about this one?

Also good machines, Imperials, I think. Do not pause to heat water, but heat throughout the cycle. $125 seems a little steep for such an old machine....these are over 20 years old. Good Hobart design!!

    Sun "Sunsations" dishwasher detergent

That's it! Reeva. The powder actually has a very, very pleasant scent to it, albeit a strong one. Kind of reminds me of the Cascade powder of the 1970s/1980s in some ways, but without the scent of the chlorine. Reeva comes as an enzyme detergent only. I have not tried to liquid.

    Sun "Sunsations" dishwasher detergent

I bought a phosphate free detergent from Aldi (I can't remember the brand name, but it's not a known brand and it's the only one they sell), and it worked fine....just found that it actually made suds in the LG, so had to use less of it. I used it in a giant load that I did with the machine...

    Is this a real Kitchenaid??

This is a KitchenAid/Hobart design, but built under Whirlpool's ownership. The 21 was a transitional model, so depending on when it was built, it will either have the round Hobart motor, or the square Emerson motor. Either one worked well. The machine has a vacuum flourescent display. I believe...

Can I Vent for a second

If your name isn't on your dad's bills, then they are not your problem. Not one red cent of them. If any of the debt is yours, it can't hurt to try and negotiate it down, especially if you lead creditors to believe you might file bankruptcy, given the situation. Worth a shot.

    Any Real Estate experts?

You can deduct all carrying expenses of the property including taxes, interest, marketing costs, insurance, etc., offset by the income the property produces, plus I believe a 4% depreciation factor (based on purchase price of the property) per year for as long as it is a rental property. The...

Which has better parts, Whirlpool or Maytag?

Maytag uses a heavier duty coupler in the washer (they are different) as well as a stainless steel tub on many of their models, as opposed to the white painted porcelain on steel tub in the Whirlpools. The coupler is the same unit Whirlpool uses in its commercial washers. The drum rollers and...

    Home Phone Service

I've been using Vonage for a few years now and so far, so good. Not a single problem, free int'l long distance to a number of countries that I call regularly and every calling feature (25 of them) that one would expect. I use the base package for $18/month which gives you 500 minutes. Works...
