I just love your new avocado green machine! My mom had a harvest gold one that looked so very similar to this one, but she got it in 1973. It was such a great washer, and I hated it like everything when it quit working. It was replaced with a 1980 model, w/o the up & down agitator. Absolutely no...

    Trading Stamps

I can also remember an avocado green carpet sweeper with a black handle that my mom got with Gold Bond stamps. And when we would go visit my grandparents in Roswell, we would make sure to gas up at the filling station where my grandma always went, because they gave out Green Stamps.

    Trading Stamps

(I always love talking about this topic with friends.) I know that a lot of you MUST have had trading stamps in your lives, while growing up. I grew up in west TX, and Gold Bond Stamps were what we mostly had. We shopped at Furr's Supermarket on Wednesdays, because it was "Double Stamp Day." But...

    Cars We Grew up With

My dad always drove the older/used vehicles in the family, while my mom drove the new family cars, which I described before at the beginning of this thread. Don't know the exact dates of his vehicles, but they were as follows: 1954 GMC pickup, kind of blue-ish green. He drove this in the early...

Demise of the Pulsator was __________?

My mom had to replace her 1972 Frigidaire washer after Frigidaire "went through the change" (ha!) This was after she'd had a 1958 and the 1972 models. And then the inferior Frigidaire was just a total disappointment.

    Cars We Grew up With

Describe the family cars that you grew up with!! I was born in 1963, and we had a '57 Plymouth Belvedere, 4 door, pale pink/white, with a black and white interior. After that, there were a couple of cars that I'm unsure of, one of which was a lavender late '50s Cadillac. And then..... 1966...

Does anyone remember washers or dryers of thier childhood?

Our washer was a late '50s Frigidaire, just like the one on the home page of this site, except it was white. My aunt had the same one, but in yellow. (Haven't seen a yellow one, since!) I can remember the load always getting off balance as it was starting to spin, and then it would shut off...
