Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

She'll have Heaping Suds
and automatic washer failures!!

Poor dear Jon, paralized now with a front-load only collection he would experience automatic washer failures. (oh I have a feeling I'm going to get exactly what's coming to me LOL)

Easy for Easy

The solid tubs handled oversudsing a lot easyer than the perferated ones.So I don't believe the Easy which was a solid tub model would have handled an entire box of Tide without a problem.

Easy for Easy

please disregard my lastreply!! I must have taken 1 too many Salvo tablets or Fizzy's.(yes I actualy have a few packs of the cherry and rootbeerFizzys tabs they're great!)I meant to say I DO believe that the Easy (I grew up with the Rivera Model replaced in 1962 with a Kenmore Gas combo)washers with the solid tubs CAN and have handled oversudsing realitivly well.We used Duz,Cheer,Rinso,Silverdust,Breeze,Vim,Trend,Wisk and Bold and when the suds cakes started to form,I'd open the lid and watch as the suds would go flying in the air while the washer was spinning the wash water out.It had a lengthy spray before the rinse that actualy did o.k in removing the excess suds. Our problem with that particular model was the water inlet valve and the pump assembly going up quite too frequently. It was a 1953-1954 model that lasted a family of 12 less than 10 years. The Kenmore combo we used at least 3 times a day lasted from December, 1962(they gave us a brand new replacement model for 1963)untill June of 1983.It not only was in working order but still had a 3 year service contract on it from Sears. My stepmother hated it and got a Signature washer and Whirlpool dryer to replace it.I got the combo and after moving it to the "comunity"where I was at that time,I called Sears and had it completely overhauled. The service tech(Charly)who worked on it like a classic automobile had retired and his replacement(Jimmy)was not a happy camper to say the least. It took him 5 visits and 7 calls into the "Techlab"for assistance in instalation of the Ballance system lock,Moisture sensor bar, rubber boot, dispenser solinoids,sump/pump protector, and igniter bar!!!I myself from watching Charly do his wonders, could have installed most of them but wanted Sears to do it since I had paid them for the extended coverage.By the time Jimmy was finished,I'd learned every cussword in the dictionary of swaring. There was at that time a lot to say about Sears Service. That's around the time they had begun contracting out to the lowest bidders from outside their own establishment. No comparison to the Nationwide Service they had originaly set up.

I thought that she was just lifting the gift box of TIDE out of her new washer. I cannot see any product pouring out of the box in its upright position. Solid tubs do handle suds better. I remember the floation rinse that started in the Speed Queens near the end of the wash period. The suds just floated on the water that carried them out of the tub so that the end of the wash agitation had no suds on the water.

Nate, an Easy, indeed !

An if you look closely, you can see the coveted and rare chome cap that's bigger than a hockey puck.

Dave, that's a great picture, and a fun and EASY joke.

Chuck, so cool about the Rivera. And Interesting. Any more details about the machine's operation. Or sensory memories that are so beloved by us washer lovers.

I grew up with original Tide. That was the only detergent my mom used. She used Tide for everything. A little Tide in a bucket of water to clean the floors, a little Tide in the
kitchen sink to wash the dishes. We did not have all the different types of soaps and detergents back in the
1950's.

Another use for Tide!

I had to wash my hair in Tide once... back when I was in college, in the early '80s, I once went to a costume party as a punk rocker. In order to get my hair to do that punk-spiky thing, I put Vaseline in it... oy! When I got home and tried to wash it out, the Vaseline just laughed at my regular shampoo. Several attempts later, in desparation, I got out the Tide. That did it! I can't say I recommend it for daily use, though.

Too bad we don't have a picture of her dropping an entire jug of fabric softener into the rinse!

Goodness, her grocery bills must be enormous!!

speaking of the 80's and in college

I lived hand to month during my college days in the early 80's..and yes folks..not only did Tide do my laundry and wash my dishes...but I've actully had to use it a time or two for bathing....talk about being squeekey clean!!!!
