V Zug Dishwasher with Heat Pump

In the whole lifetime of the machine you will never ever recoup the additional cost of the heat pump system in the dishwasher compared to any other "normal" dishwasher of extremely high quality, plus you add a complicate, failure prone system in a domestic appliance. Surely I wouldn't want it...

    1955 GE COMBO Restoration

Go figure... my combo has two heaters too but one is 750W and the other 680W! In the delicate cycle only the 750W one is operative... but the load is spun MUCH faster! :D (still it needs 80 minutes for 6 lbs of clothing!)

    1955 GE COMBO Restoration

Excellent work, it's amazing how you're restoring that washer-dryer to full glory! But in all honesty I must say I'd be wary of drying any clothing in there as it seems dangerously hot with the grill style heaters :S BTW, what is the power of those drying elements? Is the machine a water...

Advice needed - US folks may know

Why don't you run a couple of cycles with citric acid and bleach? The usual dose for a front loader is 150 grams (in around 20 litres of water for the main wash) so I'd adjust that for the increased water usage of the top loader and lower maximum temperature (you're supposed to run a 90°C wash)...

Review: Somat Gel Tabs by Henkel

I used both the German version of Somat and the Italian version called Pril, I'm sure they're exactly the same product, just the packaging and name changes. I found them to be the second worse performers, just a little better than the Italian Svelto from Unilever, worst ever. Nothing cleans as...

    Indesit Missi washer dryer

The Indesit Missi line was a joint project of the Italian fashion firm Missoni and the appliance manufacturer, the machines while being part of the Omega series were designed by the Missoni stylists and hence branded "Indesit Missi", plus both adverts feature models wearing Missoni garments.

    Clean a Deep Fryer

My deep fryer is a DeLonghi one and is totally washable in the dishwasher, you simply disassemble the oil pan, the top and frying basket and voilà, the marvels of automatic dishwashing happen! :D The model I have is similar to this one linked (albeit less "techy" without the LCD)...

    Speed Queen 'QUANTUM' Auto-Detergent Injection

Things like that are widely available over here in the professional setting, as an example my father has a row of those over the wet-cleaning machines, each has 6 pumps for detergents and additives: they are programmed to fill with certain products according to the selected cycle on the...

    Samsung Eco Bubble UK

these tests... were really made for front loaders. Alexander, it's not that way: the relevant CEI EN 60456 (or DIN EN since you're in Germany or IEC EN for the others but the text is the same) has separate test procedures for both front loaders, top loaders with impeller and top loaders with...

How long does your dishwasher take?

If you want an even faster machine seek for the SMEG STP374 (built-in) or LP364X (free standing). That is not a commercial machine but a "stronger" and more powerful domestic model. It can do a complete pots&pans cycle in only 16 minutes if used with three-phase electric supply! And still...

How long does your dishwasher take?

I have two: a BOL Indesit DI623 (12 plate settings) that only has 4 cycles and it needs 72 minutes for the normal cycle, up to 2 hours for the intensive one and 2:20 for the ECO cycle, the fouth cycle is a separate prewash/rinse that only takes 10 minutes. A TOL SMEG LSP1449N (14 plate...

    Finicky Water Level

Not all machines have the same behaviour, as an example the Whirlpool I have home fills to the minimum fill level and then tops up as needed in the wash. The rinses are timed fill over the pre-set level but the allowed filling time is limited and if there isn't enough water pressure they will...

    Ever cleaned the inlet filters?

Speed Queen Warranty on transmission is 15 years now

Guess which ones were always broken I can only speak for the "commercial" European Speed Queen machines because they were evaluated as a replacement for the current machines my father has at his laundry, not only they're regarded as very poor performers but also the serviceability and...

Stop buying new appliances and repair them instead, government adviser says

Totally second that! The door hinge on my oven broke (it's a basic non convection one in my rental flat), the repair quote was 80€ + 50€ for the repairman to come see it. I simply ordered a new Candy convection oven on "super sale" for 159€ delivered.

    Eden Pure Heaters???

It's how the heater is built, and how it uses the watta If you say that a better construction is worth spending a little more than using a cheap Chinese heater, I totally second what you say but... as long as the power of the heating element is the same, all the room heaters, be them 19,99$...

    Type of Heat?

If you put it that way even hot water systems can avoid the use of pumps and most systems till the 50/60s were designed that way. Now they all have circulation pumps simply because they can be made much more efficient with improved flow (lower temperatures) and thinner piping (less water, hence...

    Type of Heat?

Now, I don't want to hijack the thread and I must say that I find steam heating fascinating as it's a swan dive to a time that I couldn't probably even imagine... let's get back to the original scope of the thread! :D I must say that my favourite type of heating is forced air given that there...

    Type of Heat?

As I said with the "modern" developments in HVAC it's not the most economical by any means, sure it was before the advent of modern heating systems (say before the first energy crisis) ...but it would be a boring world if everybody thought the same way ;)

    Type of Heat?

CIT: "The amount of steam that flows through the radiator pipes of a building is not going to effect heating costs for individual consumers nor makes it any difference to the efficiency of the steam plant itself." So they invented a system that breaks the laws of physics?!?! Come on! If you...
