Same problem! Mine has been leaking for about 6 months also. Apparently the O-Ring has shrunk or something. I'll try the fix you did since they want $13 or so for a new cap and I'm being cheap. I'm planning to replace this dishwasher with a Miele soon so I'm not spending much on it.

Knob Removal You have to remove the control board from the back of the facia and then you can pull the knob off the board. I found this out when I tore apart a LG WM2010CW. Andrew
