You have CO2 in your apartment?

Ladies And Gentlement! Now For The Main Event... Brought To You By Frigidaire

That is one of the oddest ideas I've ever run across. Someone was thinking about diagnostics, sorta kinda, back in the '60s! Of course, unless the machine came from the factory with a built-in diagnostic harness (which I doubt), it probably would have taken longer to hook this gadget up than it...

    Will Somebody Please Explain?

Kenmoreguy, thanks for the info. I presume that the reason the '70s new pump wasn't used on the suds models was because it wasn't capable of pumping in the reverse direction?

Home made fire srinkler near dryer

I wonder if there's an inexpensive way to rig a switch to shut off power to the dryer if the sprinkler operates. I know there are water flow switches for sprinkler systems that you can get, but I don't know what they cost.

    new arrival in my kitchen

Whirlpool ice makers I've learned more about those things than I really cared to know. I just recently had to replace the water valve in mine (it's on its third valve now, in 12 years). I've got two timer wheels that I modified for higher water pressures, a spare mold, a spare motor, etc. I can...

    Will Somebody Please Explain?

Sounds like some of the really old automatics that retained the rinse water inside the machine, in the pre-fabric-softener days.

Philco-Bendix Coin-Op Motherload in North Minneapolis

In the early '80s, the Norge Village where I did my laundry as a college student took out its Norge top-loaders and installed White-Westinghouse front loaders. And they did that very thing: they took out all of the standpipes that served the Norges and installed a trough. And they did drain...

    Will Somebody Please Explain?

The Kenmore/Whirlpool ones worked this way: There were two drain hoses coming out of the back of the machine, a standard drain hose and a suds hose. The suds hose had an extension on the end, after the crook, and was meant to be hooked over the edge of a laundry tub, the extension would reach...

NEVER USED 1957 Kenmore washer-- HEADS UP!

I think you should go to Sears and demand that they replace that drive block under warranty. After all, the washer just came out of the box!

    Where to find the brushes?

I'd just go ahead and change the capacitor. If it's as old as the machine is, it's almost certainly about gone.

Back on the board and look at what I got!

3-wire and 4-wire in the US turquoisedude: There are a few areas in the U.S. (Chicago comes to mind) which have been requiring 4-wire installation for ranges and dryers for some time. As far back as I've known anything about appliances, which goes back to the late '60s, they have been sold with...

Now this is what I call a refrigerator....

Foodarama! Is that the ultimate appliance model name, or what?

    Whirlcool, this wasn't you....was it?

Bottle to throttle whirlcool, that was the part I was wondering about, whether he was supposed to fly in the morning. As you say, that aspect is the serious part. If he was as plastered as the reports say, there's no way he would have been sobered up by the time he was supposed to show up and...

    who said?......

Don't know about that, but there was an episode of Beaver where they actually had a toilet on camera -- although they only showed the tank.

    who said?......

BTW, I *think* the answer to the question is a Dennis the Menace episode.

    Maytag Neptune won't spin

DADoES, if you could point me towards a schematic for that board, I could look up replacments on Mouser and let the group know the part numbers. If those are the only parts that blow up, it seems like a lot of boards can be saved. A resistor and a triac should not be too hard for someone handy...

Nice pic, roto... Great styling, nice lines, smooth curves. But what's that washing machine doing in the photo?

    extreame jobs

During the '50s there was a major league baseball player named Moe Berg whose offseason job was... CIA agent! GM had an engineer by the name of Mauri Rose. Mauri used his two weeks of vacation each year to practice for and race in the Indianapolis 500, which he won three times. Actress Hedy...
