Hello folks, other day I did a comment about installing 1 or 2 fire sprinklers above the dryer, using the washer´s pipes.
Even considering it obviously won´t be 100% effective as a complex fire sprinkler system because the pipe doesn´t have enough pressure I believe it´s better than nothing and it´s a very cheap solution (something around $10) because we can install it by ourselve.

What do you think? will it really help if a fire starts in the dryer?

It might work,

but....I think it might be even better to have a fairly large all class..paper, electrical, liquid fire extinguisher in a wall bracket nearby.

Just my two cents.

Thanks Lawrence!
Yes, of course a fire extinguisher is very important.

The sprinkler idea is only to start fighting the fire before notice the fire. those important seconds after the alarm and before starting to discharge the extinguisher.

Also, an important action is always check and clean the exaust and the area behind and under the dryer.

I wonder if there's an inexpensive way to rig a switch to shut off power to the dryer if the sprinkler operates. I know there are water flow switches for sprinkler systems that you can get, but I don't know what they cost.

there´s a switch that can be included in the project. it´s not very cheap, but also it´s not expensive.
I didn´t think about it before and it´s an excellent idea because water and electricity togeter doesn´t match.

but... if we observe by other point of view, the project would be so expensive that is better (and cheaper)to call an especialized fire sprinkler company and let they do their job.

One idea my neighbor had is upgrading my building´s fire sprinkler system with extra sprinkler heads. it won´t be too expensive and will work much better. now i have the option to use the kitchen´s CO2 pipes.
the damages with water if the sprinklers activates are much bigger than with carbonic gas.
