Look at the close up of the lid I'm not sure, but...it looks like the Maytag "balls" are missing. I realize that nothing should happen w/ these machines if the lid wasn't closed, maybe it makes enough connection to allow it to wash then decides to quit. Just a thought?? Al 8^)
