Is there a modern washer worth buying?

To Lorainfurniture Why do you say that you need a top loader if you want clean shirts?

Central AC and Closing Interior Doors

I have a three story house with all of the bedrooms on the second and third floors but only one HVAC system. There are returns in each hall way on each floor. There is one return and two supply vents in the living room. Every bedroom has a return high up over the door, and the master bedroom...

They're Out! Miele W1 Washer and T1 Dryer

If my current Miele W1986 washer stops working I will get the top of the line model, but not the dryer. I don't mind having a dryer of another brand, plus I use natural gas to dry my clothes so an electric or heat pump dryer is not attractive to me.

F&P DishDrawer - No Liquid Detergent?

No pre-wash Seems like the newer model mentioned in this post does not do any pre-rinse or pre-wash before the main wash so there shouldn't be any problem of rinsing detergent away before the main wash when using a tab.

Gallons in Speed Queen 2017 AWNE92SP Tub

My costs are nowhere close to what is going on in California, but still as good as a SQ might be or as good as they were, a front loader makes sense for my pocketbook. Why give a utility more money than you have to?

Gallons in Speed Queen 2017 AWNE92SP Tub

My water and sewer bill are combined and billed monthly so I am paying about $10 for each 100 cubic foot or 748 gallons used. After adding fixed service charges I pay $74 per month for 600 cubic feet of water each month or $10 less if I use 500 cubic feet, so it's got to be a front loader for me.

    Who uses rinse aid?

I have a Miele DW and the factory setting dispenses 3 millimeters of rinse aid at the beginning of the Final Rinse. The drying period lasts 21 minutes and the drying with this is fine so I have never bothered to change the setting. I use regular Finish Jet Dry.

    New Tariffs On Washing Machines

I read an article someplace(maybe Reuters)that said Samsung was likely to absorb some of the tariff so the price increase would be slight maybe $10 to $15 dollars. Anyway many people buy for features so if the features they want are on a machine they will buy that, and a few extra dollars will...

    Not quite a bob load

I have an older Miele DW so don't know how the newer ones work, but on mine the cycle times are not fixed. The estimated time is the average time it has taken the machine to complete that particular cycle and includes any time taken to heat the water to the temperature it needs. The water...

    Not quite a bob load

I use Finish Quantum tabs for burned or stuck on food. Tabs may give a better result on burned on food than any type of powder.

I can't see that the new speed queens are using less water than the previous models. The amount of water being used is not the problem. This thing uses a lot of water and doesn't seem to do much with it.

New Miele W1/T1 coming soon for US market

The top line of Miele's new DW here in the USA use a cold fill with a heat exchanger. If I am not mistaken it uses less electric than using a hot fill if you are using electric to heat your water. Of course the times are longer, about 30 minutes. Miele tested using an incoming water temp of 50F.

New Miele W1/T1 coming soon for US market

Most USA appliances are expecting you to provide them hot water. Dishwashers expect 120F water, and some washer manufacturers suggest that too. Giving appliances cold water is an exception because the heaters are not powerful enough to get cold water of say 38-40F up to temperature adequately...

New Miele W1/T1 coming soon for US market

The restrictions regarding the prewash and chlorine bleach are the same as those on the 30XX machines which allow chlorine bleach, probably because they are using the same dispenser compartment for both. If I was doing a prewash I would just dump the amount of whatever I want into the drum...

New Miele W1/T1 coming soon for US market

Been looking through the manuals At least we now have manuals with actual temperatures and spin speeds, and it looks like there are a lot of options available for each cycle - even if you want to wash baby clothes. The normal cycle references the DOE regulations so perhaps the other cycles are...

Is that how washer and dishwasher energy regulations it work in the USA?

Today's Topic: Boot Or No Boot?

I grew up with those Westinghouse fl as my parents had them, and later when I left home I had two of them in different houses. Never a smell or mildew problem, but then never all cold washes. The lowest temp used was warm which was a mixture of hot and cold water from the tap. I've had my Miele...

Finally the full wash video of the new 2018 Speed Queen washer

I kind of doubt that the DOE is working with the manufacturers to insure the machines work as intended. I don't think the standards mention how well the machines wash/clean or how well they rinse; at least there is no testing of that. The standards only specify how much water and electricity...

Finally the full wash video of the new 2018 Speed Queen washer

soil removal requirements? I don't think there are any soil removal requirements included in the energy efficiency tests performed in the USA are there? If not the clothes could pass the efficiency test and still not be cleaned properly.
