Is it just me or was the Speed Queen design a fairly generic design back in the day?

Because of cost cutting. Other manufacturers made the Speed Queen design seem horrible, when it was not a bad design. I don’t think any of the Amanas were actually made by Alliance, but the older ones were essentially just Speed Queens with a plastic outer tub.

What is your favorite modern top load washer (outside of Speed Queen or traditional designed washers)

I like those too. Straight vein models also weren’t bad. Straight vein agitators actually work quite well on VMW’s. Some later models had the transducer but had a load size option (WTW4800BQ), those units were fine also. Whirlpool actually improved the balance ring for the WTW4800BQ too and was...

Is it just me or was the Speed Queen design a fairly generic design back in the day?

True. They should’ve never made the Neptune either. The Neptune’s had massive bearing and control board failures. The top load ones were much worse, they were so bad that they are extremely rare to find in use or even for sale. Most of them broke down, even lightly used ones. The boards kept...

What is your favorite modern top load washer (outside of Speed Queen or traditional designed washers)

What’s your favorite modern top load washer (it cannot be any traditional wash design) and it must be a washer made in 2006-present. Is your favorite the VMW, The HydroWave, the newer style GE’s, the stackable GE’s, the Samsung top loads, the LG top loads, the Mideas, or the Frigidaire agitub...

Is it just me or was the Speed Queen design a fairly generic design back in the day?

The Performa was a Norge-based washer. The Amanatags had the Speed Queen type build to them and they started with “SAV”. The Performas start with “MAV”. The pumps on those machines also were garbage, they’d go out frequently and make a loud noise. The seals and thrust bearings weren’t good...

    Is Kenmore now dead?

I never said they made appliances I know they are a store brand. Some of their newer appliances were built by Midea, LG, and some of the stacks were from GE. Kenmore stacks (the older ones) were made by WCI.

    Is Kenmore now dead?

It seems that Kenmore isn’t popular anymore, even if they are sold on Amazon now. It seems that Sears closing really impacted the brand’s popularity. In the 2010s, Kenmore was one of the most popular brands, right next to Maytag and Whirlpool. But, ever since 2020, Kenmores weren’t a common...

Is it just me or was the Speed Queen design a fairly generic design back in the day?

The Speed Queens are good machines. The Amanatags that used a similar platform were problematic. For some reason, the other companies never seemed to get that design right.

Is it just me or was the Speed Queen design a fairly generic design back in the day?

Back in the day, a lot of washing machines that weren’t from the big three (GE, Whirlpool, Maytag), used similar parts to Samsungs. The Amanatags did and the older 1990s Amanas. Both had Speed Queen designs. And there are some other brands I can’t recall that used the design. It seemed to be...

    Samsung is Junk!

The latest Whirlpools are junk. Probably the low end model with the major control board issues. Even Samsungs are better.

Maytag walks across floor during spin cycle

The old belt drive was a great machine. Likely was out of level.

    Samsung is Junk!

Samsung makes good electronics, but not appliances. The LG’s are fairly good (only for laundry equipment). Do NOT buy any kitchen appliance from LG. That’s a strict no. Don’t buy the AI models, just buy the regular LG’s. The LG washers don’t sound good, that’s one downside about them, the...

Maytag walks across floor during spin cycle

They don’t make metal bushings, all are plastic. They do make metal hubs, the plastic hubs are stupid. My washer has one of the plastic ones, surprisingly it hasn’t gone bad yet.

Maytag walks across floor during spin cycle

Probably a stripped bushing, could be a balance ring too. Sometimes if a washer is chronically out of balance it’ll destroy the plastic on the balance ring and cause the fluid to leak out of it, causing it to never stay balanced even with new suspension rods. Most likely, the splines on the...

The GE HydroWave: One of the worst washers ever

Early 2010s whirlpools had the half fill rinse. I think it’s somewhat okay, it still rinses. The early 2010s GE’s however, had a stupid “rinse and soak” cycle, they had a rinse and soak cycle. It didn’t even agitate really, drum barely spin, there was no spin cycle in between rinse without deep...

    Samsung is Junk!

Some may have good experiences with junk brands. I bet in 10 years a person will say they never had issues with their 2023 Whirlpool WTW4816FW3 - you know the one that gets control board issues within a year. There are 19 year old HydroWaves still going. Does that mean they are good? No. Some...

    Samsung is Junk!

I know Samsung makes good electronics and all, but ALL of their appliances suck. There is no good Samsung appliance. Their refrigerators are known for icemaker issues and compressor issues. Their front loaders have major issues with the spider brackets and bearings. Their ovens ahead issues with...

Samsung Top Loader Very Loud during Spin Cycle

Samsung is junk. Washer needs a clutch, Not worth repairing. The Samsung washers have bearings in the clutch similar to how the Mideas do. Buy another washer, ideally another brand.
