Kelvinator Washer And Dryer Sales Training Video

It’s interesting that they ‘simulated 40 years of use’, meanwhile you don’t see ANY Kelvinator machines around from that era. There’s literally Maytags and Whirlpools from that era which are still around 40 years later.

Anybody see the Tide commercial with the 12 series Maytags?

I know which ones you are talking about, it’s in the Stranger Things commercial.

    Most Maddening Washer Commerical

Never once had anything get shredded in my long stroke Maytag 806 and Whirlpool Imperial Mark 18 belt drive washer with it’s 145 degree arc.

    Whirlpool Design 2000...

I find it interesting when people complain about Maytags, but usually those are the ones who jam the machine full or use too little detergent, or don’t select the correct amount of wash time for that load. Not to mention, Whirlpools were rated at 9 amps of power meanwhile, Maytags only used 7...

    Low temp dryer thermostats

Been searching to see what the lowest temp cycling thermostat is, so far the lowest temp I can find is L120-10. Were there any ever rated at L110-10? Just wondering out of curiosity.

    GE Washers Exploding

Monthly maintenance is way too excessive, however I can see one adding a couple drops of oil to the wick on the older 4 port pumps Whirlpool used every couple of years as a preventative measure though.

Whirlpool and Samsung are reducing the maximum spin speed on their washers

It seems some people are obsessed with how fast a machine spins, it may sound like I don’t care how fast a machine spins, but as long as items aren’t dripping wet, fine by me. I know my Whirlpool spins slower than my Maytag A806, but honestly don’t see a drastic difference. With the way my...

Your valued opinions on 4 potential vintage-ish machines for regular use...

I’d go for the Maytag. Direct drives are harsh on items and have issues with lint. Filter Flos are good but use a bit more water, biggest reason I wouldn’t use one on a daily basis since the brake assembly can punch a hole through the transmission causing 2 quarts of oil to spill onto the...

    Whirlpool's D2000 Program - 16mm Film

Aren’t bad machines, just the programming was a bit stingy as wasn’t all that well thought out. Never understood why they didn’t do gentle agitation on the rinse portion of the permanent press or knit cycle, The thing that gets me with the later direct drives on how they never did a spray...

    Modern Whirlpool

Honestly, Whirlpool has been declining in quality since the 1980’s. I remember John posted about awhile ago on how the people who got the earliest direct drives were irate about the linting issues and how they were harsh on certain types of items, so much so people went to the nearest Whirlpool...

    WAYMO Technology

Ironically, the PowerGlide was used in those Checker cabs which were paired up to a Chevy 350 V8. Literally would run and run forever. The last Checker cab in New York City in the 1990’s had 994,000 miles on it, practically a million before it was retired. I highly doubt any of today’s...

    WAYMO Technology

I think another reason why those GM intermediates from the 1960’s are sought after is they are the perfect size, not too big, not too small, just right. A midsized car that feels like a full sized car with the room of one. Surprisingly, those didn’t get as bad of fuel mileage as one might have...

How long is too long to dry in a domestic dryer

My Maytag HOH will dry large items like pillows and comforters in an hour, may be just ever so slightly damp but much dry for the most part.

    WAYMO Technology

The ‘67 Buick Skylark you had more than likely had the Super Turbine 300 transmission in it which had variable stater vanes like the Dyna-Flow but had 2 speeds to make it more effective and efficient. Here’s a ‘64 Buick Skylark that was owned by my friend Richard/speedqueen back in 2019, first...

    WAYMO Technology

It’s not that I am against technology, more so about things that aren’t standardized. It became mandatory in the 1960’s for the PRNDL shift quadrant (interestingly enough, Ford used that particular shift quadrant starting in 1951), should also be mandatory for the gear selector to be actually...

    WAYMO Technology

“The majority of new tech is overall safer and more convenient to use” Yeah that’s true, until it’s not. You have to remember they are NOT using standardized gear shifts in late model vehicles, it’s really difficult to tell what gear you are in since the shifter returns back to its resting...

    WAYMO Technology

I’ll put it this way, I have nothing against technology, but when you change things just for the sake of doing so and not because it’s needed along with pushing for stuff that’s not needed, it will cause people just to become complacent and so forth. Nothing is dangerous, it’s simply because...
