Kenmore 110 not filling. Seems to be timer push pull switch. Anyone had success fixing it?

I’ve had a problem with my Whirlpool Mark 18 where it would randomly stop when filling (this happened on various cycles), would push the knob back in and pull it back out and would continue to fill as intended. Looked into it, timer contacts weren’t really pitted. Turns out, the master switch...

    RCA-Whirlpool's 1959 Miracle Kitchen in Moscow - 16mm Film

They wouldn’t sound right on 50hz as opposed to 60hz. 60hz is perfect since it’s the same amount of seconds in a minute, minutes in an hour.

1965 Ward's Signature Automatic Washer - Full Cycle Video

Ahh. I imagine it’s still going strong since it’s the venerable Maytag helical platform, a little less entertaining to watch but definitely can’t complain about the reliability of a Maytag helical. Just seem to run and run forever.

1965 Ward's Signature Automatic Washer - Full Cycle Video

I think Robert should do a video on his Maytag A806 from the 1960’s sometime. I always wondered how the earlier Maytag 806’s operated compared to the ones from 1969 to 1980. This I believe is Robert’s Maytag 806 set, a screenshot from ‘my crazy obsession’.

Linda Marshall Solves Laundry Problems - 16mm Film

Does anyone happen to know the tune at the 2:40 mark? Have heard it in other industrial films of the era, can’t seem to find it anywhere.

    1959 Lady Kenmore, freshly restored

I think one could have showed up at some point, not certain. From what I gather, those rapid advance timers haven’t aged too with time, were a bit tricky to diagnose with the amount of complexity they had. Technically the TOL Maytag push button machines are rapid advance, but I imagine the...

Linda Marshall Solves Laundry Problems - 16mm Film

When I put my Maytag 806’s back in service this fall, will go by these recommended wash and damp-dry times for my shirts and shorts (socks and underwear, towels and bedding will be dried to completion), will last even longer.

    1959 Lady Kenmore, freshly restored

I believe this is the full spin speed, Whirlpool/Kenmore machines of this era only spun at 515 rpm or so. On the slower side for sure, but since the tub is fairly wide, surprisingly spins out more water than you’d think.

Maybe this is why qsd-dan’s grandparent’s clothes lasted for a good 20 to 30 years.

    car feature subscriptions...

Reason for that is Audi in their infinite wisdom put the timing chains and glides on the back of the engine where the transmission is mounted to, only way to access the timing chains is to remove the engine, a real PITA and thousands in labor costs. Not to mention there’s achy breaky plastic...

It wasn’t wired up correctly, figured it out and got it running.

    Whirlpool dishwasher motors update

I, too, like new technology, but if there’s bugs in the design, doesn’t live up to it’s name, not really worth anything. Still using my machines from a bygone era, life still goes on as it always does and has. Unfortunately, it’s getting to the point where everything is commonplace in life...

    Maytag Centennial Dryer

My experience with the Whirlpool 29” top filter dryer pertains to the pre 1966 models, however I will say they are easy to work on, make repairs, perform very well. Despite mine being from 1963 (has since been converted to a Mark 18), the layout of everything inside is essentially the same.

I don't understand why they can't just get labels or Frozen Food Right

A convection oven is essentially the same thing, unfortunately convection ovens aren’t always available in free standing stoves or island type of stoves as well. Definitely takes some ‘guess work’ at first, but usually set things between 300F to 400F, add additional time if needed. Not too...

I don't understand why they can't just get labels or Frozen Food Right

The only advice I have is to use an air fryer, that’s what I’ve been using for the past 3 years. Don’t use the microwave nearly as much as I did years ago. Things come out crispy, done to perfection as intended.

has anyone seen the new maytags models seem direct drive motors are making a comeback

The only advice I have for anyone who’s bored is to simply read through the archives to keep your mind occupied. That’s what I usually do if something is on my mind or have a technical question, get into the nitty gritty of the machines I own. Even the smallest of things can be valuable...

    Maytag's 12-Millionth Appliance - 16mm Film

Cool to see how the Maytag HOH’s were assembled. People can hem and haw all they want about other dryers of this era etc, but none are as quiet as a Maytag HOH from this era. For sure on the quieter end. Interesting thing is the Maytag HOH’s used Oilite bearings which were invented by Chrysler...

Do Top Load Washers Sound Better on 50Hz or 60Hz?

That woo woo sound wouldn’t be pronounced as much on the older Whirlpool belt drives on 50hz as opposed to 60hz. Btw, dryers don’t tumble well on 50hz as opposed to 60hz.

Do Top Load Washers Sound Better on 50Hz or 60Hz?

60hz sounds better. 50hz has a sound I am not too fond of. Not sure where the 60hz power frequency came from, but since Nikola Tesla liked numbers that were divisible by 3, probably went with that. Could have also had to do with clocks becoming electric and decided 60hz was best since there’s...
