This week we drop in on the Maytag laundry lab and learn about the basics of proper home laundering, from temp selection to Maytag's TBI. Or, as I like to call it, 5 minutes of vintage (new) Maytags.

Boy, I sure am glad I am running the 50 cycle pulley and belt kit on my Maytags.

My dad still wears quite a few button up shirts on a regular basis that have been cleaned in an A490 for almost 40 years. Before that, they were washed in a Coppertone Kenmore belt drive washer. I still wear Nike t-shirts bought in 1992 in Jr high that have been washed over 2000 times in nothing but a Powerfin and they still look fantastic. Aggressive OPM's aren't required for clean clothes if the design is right and everything is loaded corectly. Maytags 63 OPM's coupled with the Powerfin was the perfect balance of good cleaning and minimal wear, IMO.
