Something it wrong with this picture. Mom has been washing on Filter Flos since 1959 except for the seven years it took to wear out a Frig. rollermatic. Not once has a garment been torn by the Filter Flo. However, mom would NEVER wash shirts with jeans!

Probably all you will need to do is to raise the top on the machine. I am not sure about 1985 but if it is like the older ones it should have two plastic hinges on the back and a tab on each side of the front you can see between the machine top and front of the cabinet.
