    Kenmore (Roper) stove thermostat calibration

Now I have a question... I have the GE Artistry gas range and it may need a new thermostat, as I have adjusted the knob as far as it will go and it still runs cooler than it should, more than 50 degrees. I have found out that a new thermostat is more than $200 nearly half the cost of the...

How might you explain this? It seems to work well in a Home Economics classroom.

    Wash Jeans in Shower

Dave, the guys I knew kept them on as long as they could tolerate it to create the "Impression"

    Wash Jeans in Shower

Eddie! Were you "showing off"? Actually it has been an issue in Hollywood. The Catholic League of Decency was concerned about "Batman" with both Batman and Robin wearing their Speedos, especially Robin. Eventually the producers just decided not to show those areas in most shots but that...

    Wash Jeans in Shower

But how many guys actually wear jeans without underwear, because if the are stiff, wouldn't they, as Howard Stern put it, be "chafing your nuts"?

    Wash Jeans in Shower

Actually, the idea of getting jeans in the shower was not to clean them, but make them kind of shrink so you had "tight jeans" back in the 70s as tight jeans were all the rage then. Also the same reason guys did not wear underwear under jeans, kind of to "make an impression".

    New Microwave!

Chetleham, your MW looks like... The one called General (but NOT General Electric) that consumer reports liked. It looks like a commercial oven but sold to consumers. Oh, and I think you need The Angry Mama on that splatted microwave...

Low Speed as Relevant to Filter Flo Washers

I would also wonder if it would be possible for GE Appliances to make a Filter Flow washer out of their current designs with a new type of filter on top of the agitator. It could be advertised as a washer for people with pets or who have septic tanks. The Filter could be an optional accessory...

Anyone know what is happening here? A Plumber?

While you are at it... You might also want to replace the sink and the countertop and the faucet and be done with it for a few years. It will be easier to replace the faucet if you take the sink out. I have had good luck with American Standard faucets, but others can chime in here with what...

Anyone know what is happening here? A Plumber?

Disposals aren't that hard to install... It's mostly because if you are not strong the unit is heavy and you are in an awkward position under the sink, especially the higher priced ones are heavier. Otherwise no more complicated than the pipes under the sink. I saw kits at Home Depot to...

Anyone know what is happening here? A Plumber?

A high loop is... when they clamp the dishwasher drain hose to the underside of the countertop to try to make the "hump" as high as possible, hopefully to prevent waste water from coming back into the dishwasher. I notice our disposal to smell and once in a while I will take a piece of...

Anyone know anything about post-FF GE washers?

Why are you overloading? Do you want all those clothes to smell? As for the GE washers, there was a laundromat near me that had both FF and later GE washers and in about 1 or 2 years there were a lot of later GE washers in the back of the place that had broken and no Filter flos. The later GE...

Westinghouse Continental 500 Dishwasher Part II

Some dishwashers of the 1970 were shabby... When we first moved into a newer house in 1975 it had a Tappan DW that was so cheap that some plastic bits came off and the metal cut my hand. I remember White Westinghouse was cheaply made too and even GE was kind of tinny. Me and my sisters had to...

Westinghouse Continental 500 Dishwasher Part II

I guess Westinghouse did not want the dishwasher to last long, knowing they would be out of the appliance business. I think even White-Westinghouse started to get D&M machines when the stock of these dishwashers ran out.

Westinghouse Continental 500 Dishwasher Part II

Did they keep this design when they turned into White-Westinghouse? Another thing to know from living in the area was that 1975 was about the time things started to go south for Westinghouse as a company and all the layoffs started, in many of the different products they had back then.

    Speed Queen 2024

I don't understand why For decades, the 3.2 cu ft tub would be considered very large and enough for even large families for a top loader. How many people actually have a king sized comforter? Then you can get a front loader which SQ makes. Somehow, there must be a way to separate the tub...
