Good-Bye To Gas Kitchen, Hot Water & Heating & Laundry Appliances In NYC

Same distance here about 40 miles Called Beaver Valley in Shippingport, PA.  One reactor built in 1976, the other in 1987.  It was threatened with a closure but somehow it was saved at the last minute and still in operation.

Good-Bye To Gas Kitchen, Hot Water & Heating & Laundry Appliances In NYC

Oh, I am going to duck and run, generally pro nuclear As to who I work for, I WISH I could have been an engineer for Westinghouse!   Chernobyl was caused by a nasty, narcissist supervisor who told the operators to disable every safety feature the reactor had (it had some despite being...

    New Dishwasher ordered

Now that you got it work... Maybe hang onto the old dishwasher, it can come in handy for really dirty things like grills and broiler pans you don't want in the new one.  I find it a good thing to have an extra dishwasher in the basement.

    RCA-Whirlpool?

Let my try again, This may be what we might have to deal with. Notice that the music in this video sounds like it is made with pee bottles. At 1.30 2 guys run like they are trying to hold it. And at exactly 2 minutes the woman walks like she is wearing Depends...

    "Off brand" stoves

Pittsburgh had lots of gas ranges... Caloric and Tappan were leading brands around here as well as Sears Kenmore if people had to replace the original stoves. Westinghouse and Kenmore were leading electric ranges. George Westinghouse founded Equitable Gas company so he had something to do...

    RCA-Whirlpool?

From what I hear, multiple bad managers ruined Westinghouse. All that is left is their nuclear power division which I believe may be owned by another company. Outside of Pittsburgh there is an abandoned Westinghouse that may (we hope not) become an Amazon distribution center, something a lot...

    RCA-Whirlpool?

I have been watching videos on You Tube about Narcissists... And Jack Welsh must have been a Narcissist in a very severe way. But the board of directors must have liked him or he would not be there. Why did they hire him?

    RCA-Whirlpool?

About 3 parts of GE Barry, don't you think now the GE and General Electric name should be on its electric power division? There is nothing electric about a jet engine. About the logo, I read that back in 1968 a lot of RCA dealers were upset about the change to the block letters they use now...

    Laundromat Business - Anyone Considering?

It was an environmental disaster in the 50s. There must have been a lot of dry cleaning back then, with everybody being so well dressed. Plus the machines back then probably didn't contain the fumes very well because who cared about the environment back then?

    Dry Roast Peanuts

Rich and Eddie.... As my dad would say, be sure to get enough fiber, it's better than ending up in the hospital.

    Range upgrade

If you are foolish enough to run the SC cycle while the A/C If you ever have water damage happen, self cleaning or doing a lot of cooking while running the central air conditioner is a great way to dry out a house. The cost of a few KW of electric power is just a few dollars that can prevent...

    Dry Roast Peanuts

But watch out! My dad used to have issues with his digestive system and he always liked Planters dry roast nuts. One day my mom said "I notice there's nuts in the house, he can't have that with his diverticulitis." "Sam. you're going to end up in the hospital again". Sure enough, the next...

Any positive comments for pre 1980 Norge/Wards dryers?

Remember a Norge when I was a kid, would it heat a room? When I was young, this had to be around 1970 I was playing with a friend, Jimmy. We were doing something in the basement and it was cold and I remember Jimmy opening his mom's dryer, pulling out a lever called stop N Dry and turning the...

    Whirlpool/Kenmore Design 2000 Thread

I noticed that the transition from BD to DD was gradual, and also kind of hush-hush, over about 5-6 years, and the lower priced models were first to get converted. Top of line like the Limited Edition were still BD as of 1986 when we looked at it. Was there any reason for this gradual change...

    Kenmore belt drive issues

About the belt drive washers I was wondering if anyone knew of the transition at Whirlpool from the belt drive washers to the direct drive. I guess John would know. I know the DD came out first in 1981 for the narrow machines but were Kenmores the first version? The DD was phased in...

    Help me Identify this set?

They are Fridgiscares... Possibly from late 80s. I am also wondering what the plumber might have been using was when he installed the pipes for the washer and laundry tub.
