    EPA Reversals

Reply #146 Even when sitting there idle, today’s appliances still pull power and sure it may not be much, but adds up quickly over time.

    Is This Washer Overloaded?

I always loosely load my Maytags, never had anything damaged before. Always use the slower agitation with smaller and medium loads, reduces wear and tear on clothing not to mention the machine itself, also used a little less electricity. People will debate until the end of time long stroke vs...

Mid 1980s Inglis Admiral washing machine not agitating

Sounds like the spring inside the transmission is either broken or weak. May have to acquire a donor transmission to correct that issue, or the parts from one. Fairly easy to repair, just a little time consuming. Definitely will be worth it, though.

    Thinning the heard

Hi Pat, not necessarily done with collecting, just want to make room for acquisitions and restorations in the future. For sure going to keep my Maytag A806 and DE806 set, along with the Whirlpool set, my Kenmore portables, but am thinking about selling the Maytag A606 set, for sure the A810 set.

    Thinning the heard

While it’s on my mind, might as well create this thread as a ‘bookmark’ if you will. Awhile back, I mentioned about selling my Maytag A810 set since it’s basically a duplicate of my Maytag A806 set, Melvin seemed to express interest from what I remember. Anyways, I’ll clean up the Maytag A810...

1960s Westinghouse top loader sales promo

Honestly, Westinghouse essentially ended themselves and ruined their own reputation. Westinghouse in their infinite wisdom put the pump on top of the motor, if the pump developed a leak, it would take the motor out with it which is what took these machines out of service. There’s easily more...

To add insult to injury, the people who buy them don’t really care either. Then precede to complain on why they don’t build anything with quality anymore, just repeats itself over and over again.

Whirlpool is only the best when one is opinionated or biased towards a particular company and or product. Whirlpool is clearly ran by con artists, not by people who care anymore.

    Whirlpool Open House 1953 - 16mm

“Were much harder to remove and repair than the direct drive transmissions” Since I’ve removed and installed mine quite a few times, it’s not all that bad. Even rebuilt the transmission about 4 years ago, was fairly straightforward. My Whirlpool according to Strictlybojack who I bought the...

    Whirlpool Open House 1953 - 16mm

Crazy as this sounds, I’m probably the only one or very few people in my age demographic who has more experience with the belt drives than I do with the direct drives despite growing up with them back in the 2000’s. While the belt drives aren’t entirely perfect, at least they don’t have...

    Whirlpool Open House 1953 - 16mm

Since I took mine apart last year, there’s 3 suspension rods with a rubber ball at each end (6 in total), there’s a snubber which puts pressure on the tub ring to create some resistance so it can’t move around as easily in either agitate or spin. Without the snubber, it would go off balance...

    Maytag Performa Dependable Care

Honestly, I can’t really complain about the capacity on the older Maytags like my Maytag 806 and the DC machines which had the same size of tub, just a larger opening on the DC machines. While Maytag may be on the smaller side to some, more than makes up for it in terms of reliability.

    Maytag set

Looked at the post on Facebook, it’s a DE407. That’s essentially what my Maytag franken dryer is, except the fluorescent light takes place of the neon indicator light. Has all the features of an actual Maytag DE806 and not the pesky electronic dry control which can have a complete mind of its...

    Frigidaire Unimatic

I considered, but with the holidays and a family member who had a knee replacement surgery back in January, I had to pass. Maybe I could arrange something this upcoming spring or summer, but after the timer debacle on my Whirlpool, it’s probably time to thin the heard down. Once my Whirlpools...

Ariel detergent seems to work similarly to Tide, especially the Ariel with Oxi. It may have a power scent to some, but for me it’s nice. Some people don’t like the smell of cleaning products which is fine since everyone has their own preferences, but usually like that ‘clean’ smell since it...

    Whirlpool Open House 1953 - 16mm

I’ll side with Robert in reply #19. The only repair I’ve had to do to my 1973 Maytag A606 was a inlet valve back in 2023, only repair my Maytag DE806 needed was one of the wires to be re-spaded to the cycling thermostat, that’s about it. The 1979 Maytag A806 hasn’t needed a repair in nearly the...

    Whirlpool Open House 1953 - 16mm

“Because Whirlpool likes to obsolete parts in 15 years or less” Oh, tell me about it. Even back in the day Whirlpool made parts obsolete after 15 years or less, timers for my Whirlpool were already NLA by the late 70’s. Whirlpool from day one even back then wanted to the average lifespan to be...

Whirlpool WTW4816FW3: Bad control board and Lowes warranty issues

Whirlpool is out of touch since the people running the company and working for Whirlpool don’t have a clue. It seems as though Ohioans and Michiganders don’t know as much about quality control as Iowans do, especially Newton Iowa. Then again, Michigan and Ohio are past the Mississippi River...
