I haven't used Foca or Roma in several years, but keep a supply of Ariel powder.

I never measure Ariel (or Foca or Roma) directly to a target dosage.  I use a 50cc (3.38 tbsp) scoop, start with half to 1-1/2 scoops (~1.5 to 5 tbsp) depending on the load size / water level and as related to which machine is being used.  Check the water for slipperiness after agitation gets mixed-up, add more half-ish scoop at a time until it is slippery (plus STPP).

I sometimes add a bit of Ariel to original Persil 2in1 liquid or Power Pearls (not much left of the supply bought from Target in July 2017) or Cheer powder (just opened the first of two remaining boxes) so as to conserve them which attaining suitable slipperiness.

I’ve been using Ariel powder exclusively for about 6 mo. now. For a full to the top load in my 3.5 cu ft TL I use 3/4 cup, 1/2 a load I use 1/2 cup. I haven’t been so pleased with a laundry detergent in years! Ariel powder gets out any stain and is particularly effective at removing oil/grease stains. It rinses out thoroughly and has a pleasant but not over powering scent. Since it comes in a 17 lb plastic bag I pour it into a gallon size Rubbermaid plastic canister and keep a 1/4 cup measuring cup in the canister.

I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a liquid detergent again or pods.

Ariel detergent seems to work similarly to Tide, especially the Ariel with Oxi. It may have a power scent to some, but for me it’s nice. Some people don’t like the smell of cleaning products which is fine since everyone has their own preferences, but usually like that ‘clean’ smell since it feels nice knowing that things are cleaned after putting in time and effort into cleaning around the house.

I have to try the Ariel powder. In my supermarket out here they usually have it in bags next to Roma or Foca. I love the smell of Foca but as anybody knows who's tried it,it makes a lot of suds. The self cleaning filter in my 74 Kenworth seems to whip up a lot of froth regardless of the detergent I use.

Foca, Roma, Blanca Nieves and some other Mexican laundry detergents were (or still are for all one knows) meant for doing laundry manually in tubs and or top loading semi/fully automatic top loading washers. Suds aren't that much of an issue there and you'll likely get quite a lot with any of them IMHO.

Saving grace for most Mexican detergents back in day was they came loaded with phosphates. Once they began appearing on store shelves in USA and work about phosphates got out tree huggers had fits. It took some doing but IIRC most such powdered detergents finally removed or at least vastly reduced phosphates.

Regarding scent generally Latino/Hispanic market seems to love themselves fragrant laundry. One thought laundry product section on French supermarkets was bad with products that quite bowled one over with scent, they've not a patch on things from Mexico.

The Foca has a nice "clean" scent...soapy smelling.
Kind of like how detergents smelled 30 years ago. It does leave a nice fragrance on the laundry.

I remember Ajax powder detergent used to have a very nice scent to it also.. so so did cheer powder.

One remembers fondly walking down the detergent aisles in Shop-Rite in the '70s and '80s and loving all the detergent smells.

It's all soo sterile and compact today.
