When did Maytag start to go bad?

Maytag started to go down after my 1984 Maytag 511 washer and 410 dryer were built and still going strong and run just like they came out of the box new. Those are REAL Maytags. The next generation of the fast stroke washers with funky looking panels had alot more problems and then they added...

Jerome, this thread is about DRYERS, NOT washers. Everyone knows your constant posts of how YOU want everything to be and how your way is the only way.

Let's talk jeans. Love them or hate them?

When I was a kid, my mother refused to let me wear "Dungarees". By high school, I bought my first pair of Levis. Now, 60ish years later I still wear them and have a pair on right now.

    "No frills" FF

I had the same model and it did have a filter=flo. One speed and one cycle, fill to the top with hot, warm on the wash time. But it had the indents where a coin box could go. Decent washer, but tub size was way too small. I jumped the water inlet to stay on warm and temp could be set by the faucets.

Hardwick Gas Range - anyone recognize?

A neighbor had a very similar looking stove but the left side was a gas kitchen heater with vent holes on the left side and a vent pipe that went to a chimney.

    GE Semi Solid Tub Washer

I had been given a late 50's GE and it had a full solid tub with only one row of holes at the top. If you hit the water saver switch, the Filter=Flo would just sputter as it could not get enough water out of the solid tub.

    9-Millionth Maytag Washer - 16mm Film

My 1984 511 washer and 410 dryer had those tacky stickers which I promptly tore off. Yes, you knew if you bought a Heavy Duty Maytag it would last and you didnt need to brag with a stupid sticker. Mine still do about 1 load a week and have only had only a $28 part in all those 41 years. Too bad...

    9-Millionth Maytag Washer - 16mm Film

I gave my old red trim, round Maytag wringer to a nice Amish man, who wanted to pay me but I said No, I know it will be going to a good home. His neighbor that transports him and does his social media ( I saw the ad on Craigslist looking for Maytag wringer washers). The neighbor did call me...

    1991 Whirlpool dishwasher Quitewash Plus..

Mine must be the dura=wash as it does have just the bottom arm and spray that shoots up from 1995. Has served me quite well for 30 years now. I do rinse off dishes as they are loaded because it may only be run when full in about a week.

    Norge Double Rinse Tubs

In my parents basement 60+ years ago we had a double concrete tub. My mother used one side to wring the clothes into the rinse water, the other to drain the Kenmore wringer washer into, my job was to catch all the clothes coming thru the wringer back from the rinse tub into the clothesbasket and...

    Heat Pump Dryers!

Heat Pump Dryers My next door neighbor got talked into this stacking European Whirlpool set at Lowes that they hate. Washer runs on 110 but only has a cold water inlet with an internal heater and takes forever to balance to spin. Dryer is also 110 and can take up to 3 hours to dry a heavy load...

    Using Washer After 40 Years

My Maytag 511 washer and 410 dryer are now 41 years old. Being totally retired, I maybe do 1 load a week in them. Only part ever touched on the washer was a new motor pulley and belts but nothing for the dryer. Like everything I own, the warranty is over so I feel I got way more than my moneys worth
