    KDS-18 fire

I expected this kind of detailed answer from you John!

    KDS-18 fire

One of my friends got a scary surprise with his KItchen Aid dishwasher. He went to look at what smelled bad and it started throwing fire through a hole in the door just over my friend's head while my he was bent to smell underneath! It looks like the detergent dispenser or the wire that goes to...

    Two 60s style Frigidaire Dryers

John, that turquoise dryer is your DCIAK dryer that is paired with a washer? Nice that you were able to convert it to gas! That's something I haven't found yet! Not that I mind using an electric as I have no gas line going to my laundry room and I still wish I could get more 30 amp circuits...

Repaired 1962 Avocado GM Fridgidaire Cookmaster Deluxe Rbg-94k

The illustration in the manual Robert posted shows the differences between the early "K" models to the later ones. It's hard to see on the picture but the filigree has a vertical pattern on the 1966-67 versions while the styling update from 1968 changed to the horizontal pattern. The clock...

Repaired 1962 Avocado GM Fridgidaire Cookmaster Deluxe Rbg-94k

Thanks for pointing that one of my posts helped you. As John said, this oven is likely from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. It's a 1966 "K" model (these were made from somewhere in 1965 to 1972). While the model numbers remained the same throughout those years, there were still variations...

    Frigidaire wall oven

Steve, BTW, I just installed the clock face and meat thermometer dials that you founf for me on my wall oven. It looks much better now... The first picture shows how it looked before and the two next one shows it now... I still need to fix the meat thermometer (the new one is bad) and I guess...

    Frigidaire wall oven

That's interesting, it's just like the one I have at home but with the 1965 door motif. I knew that the 1964 Flair wall ovens were carried over for 1965 unlike the regular Flairs that had the burners in a drawer which were redesigned with new controls for 1965 but I wasn't aware that the wall...

1964 Frigidaire Frost Proof - HELP

It could be the defrost timer or the heater itself. The timer can be manually cycled on for a few minutes to see if the defrost works... If it stopped advancing, you need to cycle it back to the normal mode after about 1/2 an hour so it refrigerates again. If the ice has not melted, it's likely...

1964 Frigidaire Frost Proof - HELP

BTW, did you find out what was happening to your fridge? The defrost system must have a problem!

1964 Frigidaire Frost Proof - HELP

I don't know the drawer measurement. My Canadian FPIC-12TJ has two drawers and it has a wider 32" cabinet. The US 12TJ have a single hydrator drawer which is much larger but I never had one of those (the US version was not available here in Canada). Maybe they use the same size as some of the...

New to me Flair Custom Imperial

Ken, they were better. In 1962, Frigidaire switched from GE/Telechron to International Register timers and they usually last much longer. The GE timers had many gears that could wear out and you were lucky if the Telechron rotor failed before the gears as they are much less expensive to replace...

1964 Frigidaire Frost Proof - HELP

BTW, the two plastic screws on the cold control are for the cut-in and cut-out adjustements of the thermostat. If the compressor cycles on and off normally (it should be on most of the time and the temperature shouldn't rise too much before it restarts), I wouldn't play with those first!

1964 Frigidaire Frost Proof - HELP

On the picture you sent, the air flow should be at the maximum for the refrigerator. If you move the white disc that's currently sitting on the stopper manually to the right (away from the stopper), the air flow will decrease. Do that while you hold the door light switch otherwise the fan won't...

1964 Frigidaire Frost Proof - HELP

I just found a picture of that airflow control in the previous year tech talk manual that I had scanned. Your model is shown on the left.
