Two 60s style Frigidaire Dryers

One 1965 turquoise Custom Imperial Electric, And

 

One Never used 1970 Harvest Gold Custom Deluxe Gas model { thanks to Will, Classic Caprice for rescuing this dryer from Newport News Va ]

 

Both dryers worked perfectly, the 65 saw light use, the 70 was never used but stored its whole life in a damp garage so its chrome was lightly pitted and there was light rust inside and out.

 

The Electronic Dry controlled 65 is now gas and the 70 was the donor with lots of parts saved for other vintage Frigidaire dryers.

Was photo 14 taken after the first ignition blew the top loose?  Just kidding and remembering the Pink 1960 Custom Imperial set where the gas valve stuck open and the heat turned the porcelain top black but as it cooled, it returned to pink.

Very cool and impressive conversion John, I love that! The turquoise dryer is so pretty and now more efficient in gas.

Pix of the SQ FL behind the turq dryer.

I’ve see two videos of that prior generation SQ FL. Malcolm’s and someone else’s. I like the spray rinse. The other video was a simply amazing total suds lock that it cleared out with spray in a matter of seconds.

I’m very happy with my current generation SQ FL but if it had those two features it would be nice. Even so it is pretty good at clearing excess suds and rinsing. And the scoop agitator fins are great because they dump a lot of water on top of the load before it drops, just as well or better than ones with recirculating pumps, and without that extra item to break later.

Donor parts

John, did you happen to have a spare rear drum bearing from the Frigidaire dryer? It's a long shot, but I have to ask!!

John, that turquoise dryer is your DCIAK dryer that is paired with a washer?

Nice that you were able to convert it to gas! That's something I haven't found yet! Not that I mind using an electric as I have no gas line going to my laundry room and I still wish I could get more 30 amp circuits there (still have just one!).
