    Shrinking Laundry Detergent...

Actually, here, since the introduction of concentrates most detergents went from 25 to 28 loads per bottle! And many manufacturers introduced big 40/50 loads bottles that didn't exist before. Seldom you find "promotional" 18/20 load bottles but that's a rare occurrence.

    Sour smelling laundry...

Lipase and bad odours?! Gosh, all the detergents we have at home and at work have lipase in them, except those for wool and silk (that most of the time get dry-cleaned anyways...)

    What happened to toilet paper?

Italian toilet paper... Seeing all this shrinking on american paper made me wonder how tall a roll of paper sold here was... And TADA! All those I have at home (shop brand 1, made in Lucca (IT), shop brand 2, made in Lucca (IT) by another firm, Tenderly from Georgia-Pacific, again made in...

    'Retro-Grading' the microwave in Ogden

That's so cool! :) What was the power of those old microwaves compared to a modern one? I read 1,5 kW on the first one so that would be around 850-900W of a modern oven of given microwave power but is it so? Or was less, in the range of 550-700W? Thanks

    What happened to toilet paper?

Give me a bidet anytime of the year please ;) Best invention after the WC itself! Toilet paper is just to take off the gross stuff....

    Sour smelling laundry...

Keep us updated and let us know how it goes! Strange that you couldn't find citric acid at a reasonable price... here is quite common and it's no problem to buy. But once you tried it you sure won't get back to using vinegar, it's simply better ;)

    Sour smelling laundry...

European detergents are scented much stronger French ones for sure but Eurpoe wide, I beg to differ! ;) There are indeed products with strong scent but in the market you'll find plenty of products that aren't as bad smelling as P&G products (the most scented I ever tried!)

    Sour smelling laundry...

20% solution 20 g of citric acid in 100 ml. If you don't mind the lack of smell it will replace fabric softener indefinitely! For descaling 150 g in the detergent drawer, no dilution needed. (go figure, cold water can dissolve up to 1,4 kg of acid per litre of water!!!

    Sour smelling laundry...

I would avoid that, acetic acid might be corrosive to some metals (like aluminum, the spider) if I recall correctly and has a lower descaling power. Plus it smells like no other stuff ;) citric acid on the other had is both not harmful to the washer (and you!) and has no odour whatsoever (but...

    Sour smelling laundry...

alkalinity of the wash isn't being sufficiently neutrali That's why I suggested a double rinse cycle with a 20% solution of citric acid! And you'll be amazed what can come out of even a well maintained washing machine if you run a deep descaler cycle in it! ;) Take my word for it and try...

    What happened to toilet paper?

And did they answer what? Or did they answer at all?

    Sour smelling laundry...

Chris, try this, works for everyone I suggested so far (supposing you're using a self heating front loader!) Get some citric acid (yup, that for limescale!) do two washes with 150 grams each of it at 90/95°C, no prewash of course. Clean the top and sides of the drawer cavity with bleach, check...

    Now Samsung

24 kg machine!?!? Gosh, call that false advertising! my father has a 20 kg washer at the laundry and the thing weights around 350 kg and it's 1,5 x 1,2 x 1 meters... definitely non that wimpy thing they show you.

    Now Samsung

What did you expect from Samsung?! Gosh, their products of are of appalling quality! The only thing they manage to do good is advertising, convincing people that what they make is always "the next best thing" and in reality it's just expensive crap...

    AEG ÖkoKombi Heatpump-Washer-Dryer

Nope, since AEG became AEG-Electrolux, the insides are the same as Zanussi/Zoppas/REX/Electrolux/whatever machines. Certainly better than many others like LG or Samsung but nowhere near as the previous generation of "proper" machines. Even the last series of Miele washers is having lackluster...

    KENWOOD VS KITCHEN AID

I tried both a kithenaid and the Kenwood KM070 Cooking Chef, got the latter. The Kenwood wins on all fronts, even when not considering the added benefit of induction cooking. Kneading dough that is just a little harder like egg pasta seriously strains the KitchenAid while the Kenwood machine...
