    Saab R.I.P.?

Had a 2002 9-3 and a 2004 9-5 wagon. Really liked driving both cars, but the service issues did become tiresome. We have two Volvos now, a 2008 S60 and a 2011 XC70, and my perception is that they are built much better than the Saabs were. We bought them each as new cars and have yet to have a...

    Miele Dishwasher

Have not had any issues with cloudiness or residue. Usually I use Ecover tablets. Water hardness here is only 1/2 - 1 grain which precludes the need for the salt softening system. That said, I was under the impression that the salt doesn't actually enter the washing chamber of the machine...

220 Volt Bosch Washer and dryer for sale

Bought that exact set in 2000 or 2001. Both washer and dryer were good machines. The dryer does reverse tumble but still a very full load from the washer is a little more than the dryer can handle without wrinkling everything horribly. The dryer doesn't get baking hot like an American dryer...

Moving to a new rental house, need help washer/dryer

We have a KitchenAid Ensemble washer and dryer, which are Duet clones. The delivery people didn't leave the original shipping bolts when they installed the washer so I cannot attest to whether they are resusable or not. However, when we moved last year I ordered replacement shipping bolts and...

    Costco Kirkland Powder Detergent

Here's what I know. Last I heard, Costco's Kirkland detergents were made by Huish, which is now known as Sun. I believe this is the same company who bought the North American Unilever brands and now makes Wisk and our version of Surf. As far as it being Tide in disguise, it's not. Funny you...

    Bend Over and Bid

I'd happily pay that for the set if I had the space for it. Unfortunately I live in downtown Portland and space is at a premium. In the late '90s I had a WW front loader similar to the model shown and loved it, but something went wrong (maybe the timer?) and at the time I didn't know any...

A Lady emerges from The Pile

Gordon wrote: There was one difference in the control panel I think the last LK model like this that I saw on the showroom floor in 1986 had a different control panel cap than the machine pictured above. While the top cap on Drew's machine pictured above has a textured-look print to it (kind...

bargain offer for those of you who are powdered HE detergent fans

Temptation got the best of me Ugh, thanks PassatDoc! I need more detergent like I need another, well... let's just say I don't need more detergent. But I just ordered the 3-pack of Gain anyway. :) At that price I couldn't refuse! Haven't ever used any variety of Gain before, liquid or...

    Custom Cakes

I went to cake decorating school and actually did okay, but constructing an agitator cake would be a challenge. My first thought is to rule out fondant. That just seems a recipe for disaster, pun intended. So which agitator design would translate most successfully into a baked good? Figuring...

    Pre-Rinsing Dishes

disappearing phosphates First off, no I don't pre-rinse. I'm far more interested in making the mess than cleaning it up. Now, on to the subject of phosphates. I've actually had very good experiences with the phosphate-free detergents I've used, namely Trader Joe's, Whole Foods 365, Seventh...

    Purex Fabric Softeners

I liked the almond milk & aloe sensitive skin version (not that anyone in our house has sensitive skin...), but I think it might have been discontinued. Worked just fine as a softener, and the scent was a dead-ringer for UK Comfort Pure. The last time I bought it I think it was $2.99 at Target...

    Miele warranty for DIY less?

In North America I know it's true for Miele dishwashers. When I bought mine it came with a standard one year warranty, but by having Miele install it (or an authorized Miele installer) it extends the warranty to two years.
