I was recently talking to a Miele salesman and asked about their warranty (of course he immediately started talking about the 5 year extended). I moved back to the regular warranty on the washer and dryer. He stated that if the consumer installs the machines, Miele will only honor a 1 year warranty? Versus the stated 2 year?? I got a free 5yr warranty with my Miele......if I had of spent £300 more for a TOL Miele I would have got a 10yr one. That offer may only be in Europe though.

In North America I know it's true for Miele dishwashers. When I bought mine it came with a standard one year warranty, but by having Miele install it (or an authorized Miele installer) it extends the warranty to two years.
