    Your Favourite Sitcom House?

Laundress, Jean's kitchen can't be on the same floor as the living and dining rooms. The back wall of the dining room has a large window, thus we know that no rooms are behind it. And the wall along the left side of the stairs separates Jean's townhouse from the townhouse next door, so no rooms...

    Your Favourite Sitcom House?

Well, I'm relieved that Lawrence and I won't be getting into a tiff over who gets what. I'll gladly take Jean Pargetter Hardcastle's city house in Holland Park! My partner absolutely covets their sofa. He's convinced it's the comfiest sofa in the world. I've always wondered about the placement...

The Ladies of the House.... Bridget on the left, Myra Jane on the right. Bridget just had her first birthday. In the photo she's about three months old. She was a feral kitten living in a junkyard, and we caught her when she was about eight weeks old. Myra Jane will be six years old this...

My other topic..BMW's and Volvos and Saabs

We currently have a 2003 BMW 325i wagon and a 2008 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD. The Volvo replaced a 2004 Saab 9-5 Linear wagon, which in turn replaced a 2002 Saab 9-3 SE. I’m not a car expert by any stretch, but I’ll share our experiences and opinions. The BMW has been a really good car. It’s required...

    Craigslist May 2009 - Northeast

I would love to have that LK portable set! I had the dryer in college and always wanted the belt drive portable washer to go with it. Those things never seem to pop up on Craigslist out here. Drat!

    Seventh Generation detergent...

It's not so much that the detergent is biodegradable, but rather that it doesn't contain toxic ingredients. No OBAs, no artificial perfumes, no petroleum-based cleaners, and no dyes. Also, no animal ingredients and it's not tested on animals either.

    Seventh Generation detergent...

I'm currently using the 2x concentrated liquid detergent blue eucalyptus and lavender scent. For an eco-friendly detergent it works quite well, especially on everyday laundry of light to medium soils. For heavier soils I pretreat spots and wash as usual. So far no problems to speak of. It...

    Ecover Laundry Liquid/Surcare

The only Ecover liquid formulation I'm familiar with is the Delicate Wash, which I quite like. Not sure whether our North American version is the same as the UK version, but it does a nice job on wool items and has a mild pleasant scent. I have not tried their regular laundry liquid. In the past...

    Kids say the darndest things

During college I had a friend who majored in early childhood education and spent a semester interning at an elementary school. This was in Montana where some kids grow up on ranches, and those who did often had ponies and horses as pets. There was one particular girl at this school who was...

    Help Needed: Bedspread

No worries, Sandy. I suspect we have similar tastes, as I have also been on an endless search for unfrilly bedding and have found very little that's simple yet tasteful. It really shouldn't be this difficult. :) And the search continues.... David

    favorite "new" iron

I received a fancy schmancy Rowenta as a gift several years ago. I'm at work now and don't know exactly which model, but I think it's a Professional Luxe or something like that. It irons beautifully, although the electronics are misbehaving and it likes to shut itself off after 10 minutes of...

Just what I need on a sunday evening....

Did you really iron all those hanging shirts? They all look so nice and neat. Yikes, it would take me hours and hours to do that many at one time. Don't know why, but I'm just a really slow ironer. Of course, if I did it more often I might actually pick up some speed. :)

    New Detergents?

King Soopers here in Arvada, CO Hey jt1985, I think that King Soopers is the store where my mom shopped when I was a little kid! That was back in the mid-1970s. We lived on Balsam off Wadsworth and 72nd.

AW POLL--- How did you find Mr/Mrs Right??

Chalk up another relationship to meeting in a gay bar! Actually, there’s more to it than that. One of my friends hooked up with one of Tom’s friends, and when we all met up in a gay bar a new group of friends was formed. Initially I thought of Tom as just a friend, even going so far as to...

Political: *Now* I have a choice

I hope I'm staying on-topic... Hey Jason. I don't think you're alone in your situation. As adults many of us make decisions based on belief systems that were established during our upbringing. For example, many who identify with a particular religion do so because they were raised in that...
