Hi Guys
For quite a while now here in Australia, a detergent called Seventh Generation has been been available.
I have not really paid too much attention to it before until i read the back of the pack and noticed it was made in U.S.
So i just wanted to know if anyone has used this detergent/fabric softener? We get both liquids and powders here so i'm just curious as to its performance.
If anyone has any comments it would be great :-)
Thanks Guys
Matt

I've used them, but not with regularity. The powder is quite serviceable by US standards, though not the quality of Persil/Omo. It does contain bleach and has no OBA's.
I've used the liquid on dark loads. It cleans those quite well and also contains no OBA's, therefore increasing colour protection. Thought the Delicate liquid was a bit harsh. HTH, Todd

I'm currently using the 2x concentrated liquid detergent blue eucalyptus and lavender scent. For an eco-friendly detergent it works quite well, especially on everyday laundry of light to medium soils. For heavier soils I pretreat spots and wash as usual. So far no problems to speak of.

It should be noted that I have a front load washer and very soft water. I'm not sure how the detergent's performance would compare in top load washers and/or hard water.

It's been a few years, but I have also used the powdered detergent and liquid fabric softener. The powdered detergent worked well enough, although since I used it I have noticed that new packages are labelled 'HE'. This might permit more product to be used on heavier soils without increasing sudsing. The fabric softener was okay, but not as good as Ecover's.

I've been using Seventh Generation powder recently--about to finish off a box, in fact. I have been happy with it--although I don't wash the sorts of torture loads that some do.

The powder I use is unscented, which I like when drying outside. (Drying inside, scented is OK, but I really hate how overwhelming some scents--like Tide Liquid X2--can be.)

find it rather expensive compared to most detergents...cleaning was mediocre...to me most of the detergents out there are bio-degradable and claim to be safe for the environment...I don't see the real reason for the higher price...I mean it's not like tide or gain are doing damage to the environment...even bleach breaks down back into salt water within an hour after usage....

It's not so much that the detergent is biodegradable, but rather that it doesn't contain toxic ingredients. No OBAs, no artificial perfumes, no petroleum-based cleaners, and no dyes. Also, no animal ingredients and it's not tested on animals either.
