1970s UK Catalogues - Washer Pages

Thanks Rob .... .... for taking the time to post these great pages from catalogues of yesteryear. A wonderful trip down memory lane. Really appreciated. Hi Craig - all the square door Creda's contained in Rob's scans are the first generation machines (models 10100 and 10200), which were...

    Morphy-richards Spin dryer Deluxe

Hi Steve. Excellent save - definitely one of the rarer GDA spinners and a bit different from the norm. Love the styling, with the big chunky lid handle - certainly would be a lot easier to access the spin can, when compared to the usual Hotpoint grab the lid edge lark. Great stuff. Paul

Vintage Washers Revisited, Racking and Repairs...

ps your Hotpoint 18580/18680 > can't remember which one you have. I remember that you posted a video of it on YouTube, showing its very unusual spinning performance, followed by you repairing it on your garden table. What did you do to sort the spinning issue out? Paul

Vintage Washers Revisited, Racking and Repairs...

Hi Steve. Your set up looks superb! It really is a big jigsaw puzzle - you think you have it all sorted, then you see that moving a machine or two opens up further opportunities for changes to be made. I have been trying to fathom up here out for over three years now and am still moving...

    1978 Hoover Selectamatic 1100 A2054 (A3064)

Obviously your machine James, so you do what you want with it, but personally - i'd leave the dial cap alone. Haven't the foggiest idea why the UK version of the Selectamatic was styled in such a way to make it an uncomfortable match with the dryer and so different to the rest of the range...

    1978 Hoover Selectamatic 1100 A2054 (A3064)

Question is, did your A2054 receive a white door due to damage to the original, or did the German market get a less bling version for their market? Certainly, the Italians had full bling ....

    1978 Hoover Selectamatic 1100 A2054 (A3064)

Stumbled across the advert in the link a while back - who'd have thought I would have specific reason to post it. Enjoy ... http://www.ina.fr/video/PUB3254146116/hoover-machine-a-laver-video.html

    1978 Hoover Selectamatic 1100 A2054 (A3064)

Hi James. Well, it would seem that we both stumbled across this machine at the same time. I found it through a google images search and was like 'whoa' and then I saw where it was and was like 'oh:-('. I wrote it off for a day, then let Mike know about it and was going to nudge some of the...

    The First Hotpoint Front Loader

Hi James. Well! Well, well, well! See, I told you so. Years ago, you used to complain to me, saying words to the effect of 'there's nothing over here' and 'Its all Hotpoint 95's and nothing else' etc etc and I used to tell you to just put the word out about your interest and be patient. Well...

    The First Hotpoint Front Loader

Stunned into silence James. Am off to bed. Wake up in the morning and fingers crossed this thread will still be on the forum, to prove I am not dreaming. Nighty night. Paul :-)

English Electric, Hoover & Rolls Repair clinic Weekend,,,,

Hi all. What a productive weekend of repairs - electra 10500, Keymatic, ee-liberator and more and more and more. I love the SuperJet, though cannot get my head around Hoover specifying it to be so visually different colour wise to everything else. Maybe that was the reason - to make it...

    A New Vintage Washroom Opens...

The belt arrived! Hi Nigel. A public thank you for the SlimStar belt. Once the garage is settled and I can get to the machine, I will give it a whirl. Thanks again. Paul

Creda One Thousand Electronic 10700 Restoration

Flippin' heck! Hi James. Well, what can be said, apart from another great job! The machine looks superb and, like Craig, I cannot wait for the videos. Thanks for taking the photos of the inside of the machine. The simplicity and tidiness of the inside is why I asked, as it didn't look...

Creda One Thousand Electronic 10700 Restoration

Oh my goodness! James, looks like you are working your magic again! I cannot wait to see the unveil of the restored 10700 - I have a distinct feeling it is going to look grand. As you mention - facia end caps, polished door and some wax for added depth to the new paint finish. On tenter...

    A New Vintage Washroom Opens...

.... and here it is today (well, a number of months ago, when you could get in the garage), awaiting its next meeting with mains electricity. As it sounds like you have potentially diagnosed its problem Nigel, can I take you up on the offer of the belt if it is still available? Paul

    A New Vintage Washroom Opens...

Hi Nigel. From recollections, when my HN3156 was last tried, there was a hell of a lot of water suddenly emanating from the rear drum vent as you describe. Honestly can't say that that was the only location it came from, as there seemed so much water everywhere! It was a case of turn it off...

3 new machines: 2 Simpson's and 1 GALA twin tub

briefly, as an aside ..... the UK also had a budget version of the 1400, in the form of the Twin Six - models 1410 LSA (heated) and 1411 LSB (unheated). Quite simply, its a regular Supermatic/GALA, but with all the fancy stuff stripped off the top. Did a version of this make it to Australia...

3 new machines: 2 Simpson's and 1 GALA twin tub

Hi Leon. Your collection and collection room is stunning and now you have to find room for three more! They all look great, though being from the UK, I have most affinity with the GALA. Badged as 'Supermatic', they were Hotpoint UK's first twin tub - model number 1400 LA and were introduced...

Hi Al. Hope it's acquisition goes OK, as those are most certainly the same ebay photos and, before seeing your comment, I was going to drop you a text about the machines availability via Gumtree. Fingers crossed! Paul
