1978 Hoover Selectamatic 1100 A2054 (A3064)

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Question is, did your A2054 receive a white door due to damage to the original, or did the German market get a less bling version for their market?

Certainly, the Italians had full bling ....

Obviously your machine James, so you do what you want with it, but personally - i'd leave the dial cap alone.
Haven't the foggiest idea why the UK version of the Selectamatic was styled in such a way to make it an uncomfortable match with the dryer and so different to the rest of the range.
Your machine is a much nicer match with your D6042 dryer, than a UK spec A3064 ever would be ...

... this little snippet might interest you!

A2012 was the 'Automatic 230' (UK A????)
A2014 was the 'Automatic 235' (UK A3058)
A2050 was the 'Keymatic 1100' (UK A3062)
A2054 was the 'Selectamatic 1100' (UK A3064)

Well done on another great save - can't wait for the videos (surely after the Creda 10700 has premiered though!).

Hoover Vacuums

From the launch of the Constellation the Hoover Europe canister range diverted from that in the US. Essentially it started with a variation of the Hoover 50 designated Model 402, similar but not identical. This was updated to the model 417 which seems largely similar a model known as the Hoover Holiday. When the Constellation was introduced the 417 was downgraded in several respects, becoming a lower cost cleaner. Both the 417 (actually known as "Cylinder") continued side by side for many years - 417 until 1971, the Constellation until 1982 or so. In 1964 Hoover brought out a new, larger canister (The Harlequin") to compete with the very popular Electrolux 65 (and European Electroluxs were nothing like US or Canadian models), although E'Lux kind of stole their thunder by bringing out a new product line over the 65 - the 90. The Portable model (made in France) was sold here but was not popular. In 1968 Hoover finally brought out a competitor to the 90 (actually now the 100 but much the same) called the Conquest. This model line continued until around 1972/73, until the introduction of the all new Freedom range (the one you see above) which all looked superficially similar but had different features the more you paid. It was not until the end of the 1970s with the introduction of the Compact (your Sprint I think) and the Sensotronic (your Dimension) that the suction cleaner lines came back together. By that time there was a bewildering range of models with a couple of Freedom models (UK made) continuing alongside the Compact and Sensotronic ranges (5 models of each plus specials - French made) until 1986, plus the Constellation and the 427 (the update of the 417 - in the UK sold as an exclusive). Two Celebrity models were also sold, the Airide (moderately popular) and the model shown above (not popular at all). To my knowledge no other Celebrity models were sold here.
