    Kenmore 70's Portable Washer

Looks great, Bob! Hey, first off, it's been many years since we first met. Perhaps when the pandemic travel restrictions are lifted, you'll make another visit to the big city! Love those belt-drive portable machines! Great agitation action!

    Wringer washers and automatic

Which episode shows the wringer washers? I watched some of the first episode - that's CRAAAZY! Hard to believe some people live in a mess like that. The narrator's voice started to grate on my nerves, so I don't know if I'll be able to endure watching any more episodes.

    Maytag wringer washer

Nice collection, Don! A great variety of models! I love the "activator" agitator in the G.E. Recently, there was a mid-'40s model G.E. on sale locally for $50 that I just missed out on getting. I was so disappointed.

    Pink Maytag Washer Leaking Oil

Check the wringer cap... Hey Zachary, The top cap may be in the "tension on" or locked position. Perhaps a silly question, but have you pressed the release bar? The cap should just lift off; there are two round vertical rods that align the top cap into place. There may be a taper pin...

1930s Norge wringer washer in Ohio...expires Friday April 9

This looks to be a late '30s model Norge wringer washer. Note that it has a gravity drain, not a hose. Very cool aluminum agitator! https://ebay.us/kJZC3c

    KenMore Wringer Washer

First "Visi-matic"? Kenmore machines are not my specialty, but I'm wondering if this could be the first Visi-matic? Someone with more knowledge of Kenmore might tell us.

    Wringer Washer

Barton? I see two small control levers - looks to me like a Barton. Have a look at the pic in this previous thread... https://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?47720

The oven in "The Dick Van Dyke Show"...

Well, mystery solved! I've been watching some episodes on Decades Television, and have been trying to determine what brand oven was featured on the show. Here it is ... a Caloric. The oven window and off-set handle are what caught my attention. (found this photo on Pinterest)

1950's Maytag wringer washer leaking oil

That does look pretty serious, Elaine. Unfortunately, most modern appliance repair shops don't have staff that are familiar with these old machines, even if they did, by chance, have replacements parts. Perhaps there's a club member in Colorado that can offer some help. If I was closer, I'd...

1950's Maytag wringer washer leaking oil

That leads me to believe it may be the oil seal around the pulley shaft. The oil would drip, hit the belt, and spray like that. Replacing the oil seal requires removal of the tub in order to open up the power unit (gear box.)

1950's Maytag wringer washer leaking oil

Sounds like a water seal issue... Hi Elaine, I assume the lubricant was "spraying" from the underside. Is there evidence on the "power leg"? (that's the back leg that supports the wringer.) This is probably indicative that the water seal around the agitator drive post is in need of replacement...

    Historic photo - three appliances...

Hey Tom (Tomturbomatic)... I'm glad that I posted this pic since someone with knowledge of the place responded! Interesting that the stove was only equipped with 3 burners. I wonder if anybody will identify the wringer washer with a "full skirt"; rather unusual for 1942 when most had high...

    Historic photo - three appliances...

Thought some would enjoy seeing this photo I came across while doing Google searches on vintage appliances ... three appliances featured in the 1942 kitchen: Westinghouse mangle, unknown brand range, and unknown brand wringer washer.

    Simplicity solid tub washer

Soap vs. Detergent in Canada... @frigilux I'm guessing the labels are like that perhaps because real soap flakes were used in Canada longer than the U.S. I remember my grandmother on the farm (and therefore, with a septic system) preferred to use soap flakes in her wringer washer, right up...

Digging in to a Maytag model 30(?)
