Easy Spindrier - on ebay - with ALUMINUM agitator!

As a kid I remember A few neighbors that had Easy spin dryers. I was always interested in them, or any washer that was different from our Kenmore automatic at home. But I remember watching them in action and all the owners I saw use them, after spinning out the wash water back into the washer...

Easy Spindrier - on ebay - with ALUMINUM agitator!

I don't know . . . It looks bargain basement to me. As mentioned above, it doesn't even have the 2 faucets. How does it drain and fill? Not as semi automatically as the other models. AND these's no rinse tower in the spinner. That thing was supposed to evenly distribute the rinse water evenly...

Another thing to check . . Look at the left rear leg for any signs of oil/grease. Once water has started leaking into the power unit, there will be some transmission oil displacement through the vent hole and it always works it's way to that left rear leg shaft. A lot of the old machines have...

I'd agree that it depends on the machine. $50.00 is a great price for a working machine that still looks good. So you have to see how it looks, how does it run, that it doesn't leak, is it a pump or gravity drain machine, can you get the agitator off? If it's mint I'd go as high as $150.00...

well forget the 40 dollar toy

It's never going to be "Factory" That machine could be up to 64 years old! BUT! That Mother's Mag really does the trick doesn't it? You can really go through the rags getting all that top layer crud off. When you first apply it you'll feel a difference when you've really cleaned the gunk off...

well forget the 40 dollar toy

About the lid, I don't really know. Mine was made in June 1964 and the underside of the lid was "untreated". Whenever I see pictures of these new one's, never used, 1983 models, both sides of the lid are painted. That's all it is. Painted or unpainted aluminum. When I restored my 64, I painted...

well forget the 40 dollar toy

It's older than a 1957 I found an old post where Kenmore71 decoded S/N by age and he states that Wringers made between 1945 and 1953 used a 6 digit number followed by only 1 letter. Then models from 1954 - 1983 used a letter proceeding the numbers, So S/N 141634N is before 1954. The thread...

If one had to transport a very old Bendix washer....

Me too! Our neighbors had on back in the 60's. I was fascinated by it. More than most washers even! I remember sometimes the clothes feeling damp dry when finished. Other times after the clothes were on the lines they'd actually be dripping. I suppose it had to do with how good a seal they got...

If one had to transport a very old Bendix washer....

300 RPM's? No wonder Bendix thought the Economat squeeze tub extracted sufficient water!

I can hear it now If the $40.00 job doesn't have a pump . . . "You DON'T have a PUMP?" Enter Mr. Haney!

well forget the 40 dollar toy

This one appears to be gravity drain Did you look at your $40.00 clunker to see if it has a pump? It would be easy to switch that out if it does. Or if you have a floor drain handy it won't matter. I added a pump to mine. I didn't think it would make that big a difference but now I gotta say...

Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish Will shine that top up. I bought mine at the Auto Parts store. That's an old one for sure. I think the red agitator was used until 1955? And the thicker tub is even older. Yours might be late 40's. At some point they went from an aluminum agitator to the red.

    40 buck hobby

It's THE MASTER That was the TOL Maytag wringer model. The Chieftian was the cheaper round model. There's a motor on Ebay right now but expensive. Like $89.00 but maybe you can bargain him down. The trans, or power unit as these are called are not that complicated. I'm pretty sure yours is...

Preference of Gas or Electric ranges?

I've used both. Our house growing up had electric. So that's what I had experience with early on. Then after college my first 10 years on the places I rented in the late 70's and early 80's had older gas stoves. By that I mean the burners had a pilot but for some reason the oven's didn't. There...

Keeping my 1966 GE range, thanks to this site!

2 outlets too! If I remember correctly, one outlet could be used with a timer. The other was always live like any house outlet. This was so back in the day before programmable Mr. Coffee's and such, you plugged in the electric coffee pot ready to go before you went to bed and it would start at...

Keeping my 1966 GE range, thanks to this site!

GREAT STOVE!! My folks had one a few years newer. 1968 and Avocado Green of course! And it had a window on the large oven door. There was a shield between the glass you had to lift up before the self cleaning cycle. I now have a Jenn Air with a window in the door, no shield. I always keep my...

    Grandma Superba (KDS-15) comes home.

We also Had this model in the house where I grew up. My folks bought it in the fall of 1968. It was a GREAT dishwasher. And I too agree, if loaded correctly it holds a ton and will clean everything. Ours was a family of 8 and anything that didn't fit in the dishwasher had to be done by hand...

Maytag Wringer with Lint Filter Agitator

I'd pay $40.00 Just for the agitator. Even used as a planter it looks pretty good. I bet it wouldn't take much to get it into running condition.

    My new

Here's a picture of the agitator from the late 1940's Speed Queen washer. These machines really didn't change that much over the years. They eliminated the stainless or aluminum, whatever it was made of, agitator and wringer skirt. Most likely as a cost savings. But these changes would have no...

What does Pres Kennedy & Maytag Wringer washers have in common?

Yes but. . . Did McDonald's spill the hot coffee on the old lady or did she spill it on herself? Millions of other coffee drinkers were not scalded. Same with car crashes. Thousands happen every day due to driver carelessness. But someone hurt in a car accident that THEY themselves caused will...
