    Neptune Dryer Idler E-Retainer

I'm curious - what does it look like? I know so little about these, a pic would be great.

    Starting to turn PANK!

Fuzzy Apparently, the pink vinyl foil upset the auto-focus on my cell phone. I'll try for better shots Sunday or Monday when I do the sides. It's astonishing how much 'contact' paper has improved over the 1970's. This stuff is much easier to get bubbles out of, it's dyed all the way through...

    Starting to turn PANK!

This is the beginning of the PANK-ening of the Whirlpool WTW5540SQ0. I'm going to try to find someone who does powder coating for the lid and top. I'll spray paint the plastic end brackets. No way to do the control panel, my skill set isn't anywhere near good enough for that. The kick-in at...

    Green (not avocado) Hoover Spirit

Drat, my text got eaten on my phone Matt, https://www.ezvacuum.com/ is where I find bags for my vacuums, including this one. They seem reasonable and their shipping is quick and well packed. Of course, for some of our more exotic stuff, we have to save the attachment collar/brace and...

    Whirlpool WTW5540SQ0 Temperature Regulation

Had a free moment and changed out the inlet valves. What an enormous difference in the hot water stream! Thanks for the tip, again. This washer is now, finally, back to the level of one 20 years before it's time. What idiots Whirlpool are to do this to such a simple, competent design.

    GE is making combos again

Careful now, I don't think that was a fair comment toward John. At all. John is not inclined to sugar-coat his opinions or criticisms of mistakes one makes. Irrelevant, he's knowledgeable and one of the three most competent people around here. So, back off.

I could go with Jade or Teal. Or, for that matter, Seafoam. Or anything but avocado. Hate, hate, HATE that appliance colour. Anyhoo, the new bags are supposed to arrive today. They can't be worse than the porous as a plastic garbage bag NIB which came with this lovely little vacuum. As to...

    Disappearing Cotton Eco Cycles?

Jim, Laundress has explained all those variables and how they must be exchanged, so I won't repeat what you and she so clearly explained. What is (finally) clear and shouldn't be a problem for anyone is that a second rinse does more to clean things than any other easy solution one can chose...

    Disappearing Cotton Eco Cycles?

I may have been the only person in Europe to have Found the symbols useful. Perhaps because they served as a quick shorthand for me - this one means this set of steps by the washer, this one means that. They sure weren't popular with most of my friends and students, though. As to temperature...

    Whirlpool WTW5540SQ0 Temperature Regulation

It worked! Thanks, Melvin! Life is what happens when you're making plans and it's been a bit since I asked for and received help on disarming that abominable, stupid, ridiculous, hateful, monstrous, idiotic and just plain worthless ATC system on the washer. Today, I had some time, so I took...

Young people overdosing detergent & softener

JustJunque, I'm glad you said that Having lived most of my life in Germany, I'm quite used to dealing with ascetic personalities. Usually, the only time they permit anything but black and white in their lives is when raging in full Technicolor and with the latest Surround Sound at those of us...

Young people overdosing detergent & softener

Matt and Jim - precisely Life is too short for being a wet blanket and a party pooper. Kids today face a hostile world we Boomers did not. Everything is regulated, every infringement is a felony or, if you are Black, a death sentence. Let's watch a cute guy do silly things! Let's watch a very...

Young people overdosing detergent & softener

Barry, The King of Random (may his Royal Highness Grant I rest in everlasting peace) has 12.4 million subscribers who enjoy watching them do all sorts of silly things, not just blowing things up or wasting detergent and fabric softener.   They also catch things on fire and make thermite to...

    Green (not avocado) Hoover Spirit

Yes, 'seafoam' makes sense It absolutely is not avocado (my most hated colour) and certainly not teal or turquoise (perhaps technically). I'm guessing ABS resin? Sure has held up very well.

    Radarange Touchup

I would try One of those art magic markers which come in so many shades of each colour as well as various black and whites. Or, finger nail polish. When you find the shade which works, if it looks good enough, done. If the right shade but too easily rubbed off, then a slight bit of top coat...

Nate is absolutely gorgeous He's also, can't phrase it properly here, well what they say about tall, thin dudes.   Anyway, the two of them do some awesome videos. Some are silly, like this one, some are really quite complex and fun.   Mainly, right now, they're focused on blowing things up...

    Green (not avocado) Hoover Spirit

This is interesting I've been going through a BOL phase lately - picked up a ROPER washer with a very short agitator stroke on a very deep tub and high agitator, the dial sets the temperature, two water level settings, that's it. Works really well and spins super fast for a DD. This little...

    Green (not avocado) Hoover Spirit

I know some 110vac Juniors were built in Wales And shipped to North America. I had one. No doubt you're right about this, it's just surprisingly well made. It's not avocado green, despite the colour rendition. Is a lovely minty green. IBAISAIC often does these older models on YouTube. Have to...

    Green (not avocado) Hoover Spirit

Cole/Brendan Thank you! Given the build quality, I assumed it was 1980s. Hoover in North America much after that was pure junk. Even then, they weren't doing this level of work, consistently. This must have been on the high end of the very wide scale they considered acceptable. I would have...

    Green (not avocado) Hoover Spirit

I have no idea when this vacuum was built, clearly it was a very budget model. However - the motor is quite good (two-stage? It appears to have another turbine under the fixed vanes of the first), robust windings, well balanced and hefty brushes. The plastic (which is everything) is quite...
