MAYTAG automatic washer & Dryer work good

A108S Very common model in my area. At least at one time. Suds savers in general where very common. At one point just about everyone in my family had one. Ed

Maytag set, 12 y.o. kicked to the curb.

Sounds like the washer was an LAT9806AAE. Definately TOL , in fact the only model I can remember with the "double wash" option. It came with a grey liquid detergent cup that went in place of the regular white softener cup. You could use one or the other- not both. This was available in the fall...

    Hotpoint POD 03-04-09

I understand that Hotpoint was completely under GE's ownership at this point. But I think the giant drum dryer was still built at this time. I know it was around until at least 1980 or so. In fact if you look at the bottom of the page the dryer in the complete lineup is a giant drum model. I...

    Hotpoint POD 03-04-09

It seems strange that the dryer in the picture is a standard drum GE dryer. It looks to be TOL or near it so wouldn't Hotpoint use the giant drum/door (actual real Hotpoint) design ?

    Kitchen Aid Set

I think the dryer has a mechanical timer. At least I can say that one like this that I worked on years ago had a mechanical timer (with rapid advance of course). I think the dryer only needed a new belt but I opened the control panel just to look inside. It was quite complicated looking inside.

    Oh Whatever ***rolls eyes***

It's funny how in the early days only the top of the line machines had microprocessors. If you had a dishwasher with electronic controls you had something special. Now you can buy a $200 dishwasher with electronic controls because it's cheaper to build than a mechanical timer.

    Dryer help GE DDE8200GBL

I would check the heating elements. GE dryers have two coils and one could be open not allowing the dryer to reach full temp. Although the fact that the timer advances means it must at some point satisfy the thermostat. Also take the front off and check for excessive lint build-up in the blower...

So what's the deal with the Oasis/Cabrio/Bravo nowadays?

There has been a lot of problems with the rotor position sensor/ wire harness at the motor. They have a kit to replace both parts. The connection between the sensor and harness is weak and comunication with the main control board is lost. This causes the board to cancel the cycle and display a...

Digital Maytag - Coolest 90's Top Loader, EVER!

What a nice machine ! I like the electronic control a little more on the black face than the later white one. I never knew how flexible the cycles are. BTW all Maytag's from the '12' series on (about 1984-1985) fill with the lid up. I have never seen this machine except in the book. The white...

Here They Are, The New Appliances!

I think they look great ! The curved look to the GE microwave actually matches the curved look of the Maytag oven door better than the Maytag micro (all square) would have. BTW I too repair appliances for a living (for the past 17 years) And I see nothing wrong with any of these products. They...

    New Kenmore 800

I see that Whirlpool has the same machine in their line. And I'm sure Maytag won't be far behind. You have to give Whirlpool some points for doing what will probably be neccessary to keep toploaders alive (or should I say legal) for a little while longer. Ed

Speed Queen Wringer Washer - New?

I can remember a appliance store here in Pittsburgh selling wringers until sometime in the mid 90's. They were Speed Queen machines with the Amana badge. They even had 3 models to choose from. BOL porcelain tub with gravity drain. MOL porcelain with pump. TOL SS tub with pump. ED

    Should I repair this Kenmore?

1986 This is a direct drive from 1986.

    and Hamilton dryer in Atlanta.....

1955 - 1956 I think. Anyone know for sure? I never saw one with the green trim on the panel.

    Don't stop at garage sales!

I'm thinking now that the A610 was a one speed machine with the 3 fabic selector buttons. And the A510 was the basic fabric matic BOL extra large capacity machine. Would love to see a book from this line.

    Don't stop at garage sales!

4 speed combinations I also like the gentle agitation/ fast spin option. I never thought that the high spin speed was all that hard on delicate clothes. And since they would be more likely line (air) dryed the more they are spun out the better. The next model up (A810 - top of the line) had...

Are these simple repair tasks? (Maytag TL)

Some Performas were built on the Dependable Care platform. A few that I can remember were the LAT2300 & LAT2500. ED

    4 speed Dependable Care?

Model # LAT9806AAE Top of the line when the electronic models where no more. Late 1996 I believe. Never sold a lot of them because they were expensive for a top load at the time. About $650- $700 I think. Had the Double Wash option that used a different cup in place of the fabric softener that...

Just one of those days continued

very common I don't know what has changed in the later Maytag's but I change these two parts all the time. When I had my two Maytag stores (from 1995 to 2006) I sold thousands of these machines. Now I go back one at a time and change these parts. You made a good decision to repair. It's still a...

    new arrival in my kitchen

Frigidaire ? My guess would be that's a Frigidaire built fridge. The single dail control in the fresh food section gives it away. Is the other dail on the back wall of the freezer ?
