When did Maytag start to go bad?

I think Maytag refrigerators were made by Norge after they acquired them in 1986. Not sure if Maytag used the Amana design when they acquired them in 2001. I heard the Norge refrigerators were decently made, at least by todays standards. They weren't up to Seeger/International Harvester...

When did GE start to go bad?

The very beginnings of GE's fall was probably when Jack Welch became CEO in 1981. The last generation Filter Flo washers were claimed to be very cheaply built. I don't have first hand experience with that statement.

    KDI-21 Imperial

You may damage the seal by removing it, just meticulously clean around it. The part# is 4161631, I don't see one available on eBay or anywhere else. Other common areas of failure: Carefully inspect the water delivery tube in the upper rack for deterioration or loose fit. Part# 4171544. Check...

Betty Furness Introduces Frigidaire's Very First Automatic Washer with a Full Cycle Video!

Interesting, I assumed every Frigidaire washer from the first Unimatic through the last Rollermatic had a solid inner tub.

    replacement dishwasher

Global Wash design? It has filters so that's a good sign. It's not the Micro-filtration Wash System which is notorious for having problems, requiring removal from the cabinet and tearing the machine completely apart to fix.

Epitome of proper daily laundry sorting???

The only positive outcome I see with this design is that it may push the idiots here in the US washing their entire wardrobe in a ginormous front loader using cold/cold to actually sorting AT LEAST their whites in a different drum and actually using warm or (GASP!) hot water for their dirty...

Washer and Dryer Cycle Times To Long?

"He doesn't specify front load, traditional top load, or HE front load." Whoops, I meant front load, traditional top load, HE top load.

Washer and Dryer Cycle Times To Long?

He doesn't specify front load, traditional top load, or HE front load. 90 minutes is far too long in a tradition top load and significantly short for a front load. Not sure what the 90 minute cycle is referencing to. His quote about detergents being quicker is also wrong, todays detergents are...

    A DE606 from 1966!

Great to see you you posting again! The first couple of years saw a few different console changes on the washers, I think the dryers went through the same changes. The motor has been changed out sometime, all motors in 1966 for washers and dryers were round back then. Some of the the...

Enjoy using a high quality piece of equipment that doesn't have touch screens and control boards to die.

    Cold Wash Warm Rinse Cycle

"During the cold spray the Maytag in the video below slows down in spin only slightly toward the end of the 1 minute spray indicating terminal saturation is taking place toward the end of 1 minute and that the machine can handle a 1 minute cold spray with satisfaction." Maytags are EXTREMELY...

    Cold Wash Warm Rinse Cycle

A 606/608 does not have separate cold and warm rinse buttons. My entire collection of automatic Maytag washers (and dryers) are TOL models only.

    Cold Wash Warm Rinse Cycle

"Would it be alright to ask a picture of your tempering valve setup?" I'll have to pull the washer out for a clear view of everything, it's all tucked back in there. Give me a week or so to accomplish that. "And do you have videos of your 90 second spray washer?" I haven't posted a video in...

    VOA

"over 80 years of bringing the truth and current world news to countries around the world" The VOA was started and originally funded by the OSS, the direct predecessor to the CIA, under Franklin Roosevelt. It has been nothing but a propaganda tool from the very beginning. This was even...

    Cold Wash Warm Rinse Cycle

it adds more complexity to the system. It's just 2 extra hoses and a "Y" adapter off the hot water line. As mentioned, I never once had a problem in 18 years.

    Cold Wash Warm Rinse Cycle

Don't forget about less during the summer. Yeah, it's less during the summer months but still a higher volume of water than not having the tempering valve in place.

    Cold Wash Warm Rinse Cycle

"Does one long spray do the same work as many smaller sprays of equal total duration?" I think it does, at least in a Maytag. Probably any perforated tub that can handle a long spray rinse without getting water logged/suds locked should have the same results with a long spray rinse vs pulsed...

    Cold Wash Warm Rinse Cycle

"And I bet you let the machine spin for about 4 minutes after the initial 1 minute spray and then did another 1 minute spray followed by a 6 minute spin you could skip a deep rinse altogether." Probably. As I mentioned in the past, I wash all 3 of my pillows in the bathtub filling with 160F...

    Cold Wash Warm Rinse Cycle

This is my biggest grip with DD washers. Most do not spray rinse after the first spin, only the Ultra rinse models do this. A simple 1 minute spray rinse AFTER the tub is up to full speed negates a 2nd deep rinse that was required to get detergent out and uses less water achieving those results...
