    Speedy Washers

In the late 1950's I remember doing laundry with my grandmother in Kenosah, Wis. in one of these machines which was in a laundromat. You could fill the washer with as much water as you wanted and do several loads in the same water. These machines washed well it seemed. Gary

Allen, Oh yes, I love this house too. There is even a steel beam to hold the floor up. Nice gas fired hot plate to heat the wash water and the concrete rinse tubs which are just begging for a wringer washer parked in front of it to do a weeks worth of laundry. Nice place indeed. Gary

    How Is Everyone Keeping Warm?

-14 tonight. I keep the closet door open in the kitchen. The pipes for the bathroom upstairs goes up through the closet. I have never had a frozen pipe here ever. The door for the bathtub pipes is open now too. Just use some common sense about all of this and things should be ok. Gary

My mom, in 1958 bought a Mixmaster junior. She was making whipped potatoes for Thanksgiving dinner. Some asked her a question, and not being very familiar with the new mixer, tilted it up and everyone standing close to her got a nice ring of mashed potatoes on them. We all laughed and had a...

Hi Tom It is difficult to go back too, you are right. The building in the picture is a wonderful example of school architecture during the 20's. If is very difficult to use these types of for other things. High ceilings, many big windows, etc. makes it difficult to rebuild into something...

The Secret Rooms at School (& maybe other places) I want to discuss!

The high school building that I taught in for 30 years had all kinds of places to hide etc. In the hallway downstairs, there were doors that were set in the walls. Those doors led to pipe chases etc. for maintenance purposes. The building was built in 1928 and was torn down a year ago. The...
