Turquoise GE Washer/Dryer Combo in Cleveland

Ken, I agree that this one is a WD-860.  The 1961 was a WD-860V, the WD-860W was offered in both 1962 and 1963.  Visually, it's identical to the WD-860Y, which was offered in 1964 and 1965.  I guess GE figured "if it ain't broke don't fix it."   lawrence

GE Washer/Dryer 1994 (filter flo?) questions

Jo, That's a nice washer and the matching dryer should be as well.  However, I think this washer is older than 1994.  It should be maybe 1985-1988 or 1989-ish.  Unless the seller is aware of problems, and they reportedly work fine, don't shy away from them.  I think parts should be available if...

    POD 11-01-23

Today's POD is one of my all-time favorites.  It seems to quite perfectly depict 1967!   lawrence

    Nice GE Washer in Texas

After seeing this again, now I'm wondering if this photo was taken in a mobile home?  Mobile homes from this time period (1964-ish) normally placed the washing machine in the bathroom, which this could be.  Given the paneled wall, the wall with Marlite on it, the floor covering (with floor...

It's Time to Let Go.... GE Filter Flo

    That's a nice Filter Flo.  It appears to be a WWA7070; a standard-capacity, 2-speed model with Mini-Basket.   lawrence

Vintage Finds When Up All Hours

Ah Ha Thanks for the additional post, it explains a lot.  That's an office/commercial space - explains why the cabinets and the tops are the same color and product and why the floor is VCT.  Both of these features are very unlikely to be found in a residence.   I still  like it.   lawrence

    POD 10-10-23

I believe this one could be from 1967, 1968 or 1969.  GE advertised the V-14 models in 1965 and 1966.  They advertised V-16 in 1967 and 1968, but in the literature that I have they didn't use numbers in 1969, they claimed 'Huge Capacity" models.  In 1970 they introduced the 18-pound models.  I...

    POD 10-10-23

No light on this one.  At this point in GE time, only the 'Americana' models had the fluorescent lamp, and they had an additional hood that housed it.   lawrence

A real estate listing in Mobile, AL

Bob, This is a strange RE market.  It's not uncommon to find houses that were built in the early 1970's without carport or garage - just a driveway and a parking pad next to the house.  I suppose garages are 'standard' today with new construction, perhaps that's due to smaller lots and larger...

A real estate listing in Mobile, AL

The listing says that this house was built in 1969, and I guess that's about right, considering the location.  It appears to be quite a time capsule left behind by the original owner(s).  Most interesting is the avocado D&M dishwasher in the kitchen.  There's not a clean shot of the control...

    Gold GE dryer

Correction - Reply No. 1 I misspoke in my post.  This model was not introduced until 1978, not 1977.  And it probably continued through 1980, maybe 1981.  I can't verify the stop date.   lawrence

    1976 GE Filter Flo

I know this one well This model was the first washing machine that I owned.  I really liked it; and had the matching dryer.  Mine were white.   Correction - I just realized that mine had a third speed combination, so all three of the toggle switches had 3 positions.  The options were N/F...
