    That's a wrap!

A few questions The finished product looks very good!  But -    I'm not familiar with this 'wrap' - how does it work?  Is it stretched across automobile panels?  And how is it attached?  Pressure-sensitive backing?   What kind of result might one expect with a non-SS appliance?  Especially...

80s maytags in Pdx Or this weekend

That appears to be a nice, basic pair.  Washer looks like a single-speed, 3 water level, 3 temperature combination model; dryer is an auto-dry model.  If I am correct,  my ex had a pair just like this, purchased in 1985.   lawrence

POD 1959 GE TOL Washer Possibly WA955S

Tom, I'm right there with you regarding this washer and dryer.  The 1958 is a beautiful machine, but there's something about the addition of color to the timer that really makes this one pop!   Which Rich's store were you haunting in 1959?   lawrence

HELP!! - GE 40" Free-Standing Range - looking for Correct User Manuals

John, Thanks for the correction regarding the production of GE's 40" ranges.  I failed to realize that they farmed that out as early as they did.  Bad GE.  Baaad GE.   lawrence

    An update regarding life

Bob, Thanks for letting us know what happened and that you survived the whole ordeal!  There's been a lot of BAD weather in that part of the country for several days, and there could be more.  Keep your eyes and ears open for warnings and protect yourself should this type of situation reoccur...

HELP!! - GE 40" Free-Standing Range - looking for Correct User Manuals

Jan, This range isn't terribly old, in fact, it wasn't built by GE but by WCI.  A quick check of the GE date codes says that a Serial Number that starts with "TV" could be October of 1999 or October of 2011 (1987 is also a possibility, but wouldn't be right for this range as GE was still...

    P.O.D.05.11.24

I've always considered today's picture to be one of the more-dramatic advertisements featured.  The dead-pan expression on both faces and the visual contrast with the black background is certainly an eye catcher.  But I have to wonder, as nice as the Pucci scarf is, just how effective it was at...

    Turquoise Westinghouse Stacked W/D

Eddie, My Aunt Betty only had the washer in her trailer but that was considered high cotton for the time (late 1950's).  She still had to hang the wash out on the line, but didn't have to carry all laundry to the common use laundromat.   In my last year of college (1975-1976) I worked with a...

    Turquoise Westinghouse Stacked W/D

When I was a kid an aunt of mine had one of these washers in a mobile home.  It was a 2-bedroom model; you walked (front-to-back) from the kitchen through my cousin's bedroom (bunk beds on your right) through the bathroom, into the rear bedroom.  The bathroom was divided into two compartments...
