I recently purchased an older GE 40" Free-Standing Range from an estate sale. I am trying to locate the correct year of the range. GE tells me it is a 1987 year model. I thought it could be older. I am also trying to locate the correct User Manuals, Parts manuals, and any other related Manual to this Range as I need to replace some things on the stove. GE keeps sending/telling me the manual for JCP67 is the correct manual; however, the stove in the manual is not the stove I have - it shows a digital display and has less knobs than my stove does. I understand not all manuals will show the exact stove and can be generic. But the stove I have has more knobs and possibly more functions. I was able to locate a manual "GE JCJS67 Use and Care manual" on a website under JCJS67 that appears to match the features of my stove. The tag located in the door of the small oven shows Model: J-CP67-112-WH, Serial: TV2 08514E. I cannot get anything to come up that matches either of these numbers unless it is just the JCP67 followed by different letters/numbers.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!!

Jan,

This range isn't terribly old, in fact, it wasn't built by GE but by WCI.  A quick check of the GE date codes says that a Serial Number that starts with "TV" could be October of 1999 or October of 2011 (1987 is also a possibility, but wouldn't be right for this range as GE was still producing their own 40" ranges in 1987).  You might try some repair parts websites to see if they have a copy for this range, or look at eBay.

General Electric labeled 40 inch electric range

This stove would be a 1987 range GE stop making their own 40 inch ranges around 1984.

What parts do you need for it? Almost 0 parts would be available from General Electric, but there are some parts that are still available generic or sometimes I find good used ones

This range was originally a Kelvinator design and that got bought up by WCI so they were the parent company in 1987 when it was built. There were many other brands that carried these WCI built 40 inch ranges as WCI was the last company in the US to build 40 inch electric ranges , except for a few high-end professional things possibly.

John,

One of the parts I would like is the cover for the cook top light under the control panel. It is missing and I have no idea how to get a part number for it so I can replace it. I also need a replacement knob for the small oven. The knob itself will turn; however, the dial portion has detached from the knob so it is hard to tell what temperature the knob is really set on. I guess it makes sense that GE did not manufacture the stove that WCI did. GE should still have correct manuals for this product; however, they do not. I am still searching for a parts manual just incase I run into other problems.

Thank you very much for id'ing the WCI factor in this model. I am new to this forum, so I am learning.

Parts for a 1987. 40 inch WCI built GE range

Hi Jan, the part number you need for the knob is WB3X5660, it’s no longer available from GE but if you search for it on eBay etc., you might find it.

If you’re close by, you could come dig through our knob selection we might have one.

I do not see a light listed for this model. There may not have been a cover for the fluorescent lightbulb. It may have just been under the chrome metal shield.

If you wanna look up parts for this range use JCP 6701. GE does funny things with their model numbers. You sometimes have to add zero or remove a few numerals toward the end of the model number to get it to work, but the parts list is definitely still there and there are some parts still available for it.
