Is your Whirlpool VMW washer loud on the spin cycle?

B in 8th position of the model number indicates 2013 model-year. The serial number is coded for the year and week of factory production if you want better age accuracy (the coding pattern is different for serial vs. model). It could be 2014 production.

Could I live without my Stand-Up Mixer?

HEB had dzn for $3.98 or some such $3.9x price yesterday IIRC. Online says $4.14 but that includes some cents upcharge for curb pickup convenience based on other items for which I know the in-store price. WM shows $3.98. Is that still at the "outta sight" levels? I haven't bought eggs...

Whirlpool WTW4816FW3: Bad control board and Lowes warranty issues

I have no plans on owning a HE top loader but if I ever did, I'd get the same Kenmore Oasis as this person. I just really like the looks of it. I think from my understanding, they also make one with an agitator as well.
KM Oasis models are long discontinued. They were...

    youtube and the restrictions

Pete, I haven't added a new video to my channel in three years. I haven't received any restrictions or requests to promote it or provide documentation. Guy, maybe your browser has a built-in ad blocker? I peruse YT every day on my computer and one or both Rokus. I use uBlock Origin with...

    Is This Washer Overloaded?

It's good. You all think a RotoSwirl or Surgilator is less agressive? Or RotoFlex? Kenmore had some Lady Kenmores with RotoFlex reduce to low speed toward the end of the wash period, with a Heavy Duty option button to override it to stay on high.

Early Direct Drive Pause During Spin-Drain

It's running the Perm Press cycle. This is a spin-drain model. Drain is at high speed, perm press spin is at low. My guess is high-speed drain stops when the pressure switch resets (like it does for the PP cool down partial drain) to prevent the drain periods from attaining full high speed...

Sharing eBay Links This is Dan's eBay link from Reply #20, as an image so the full text of it displays. It's a single line of text, wrapped so it fits into a 900px image to avoid resizing. The only part of it needed for a working link to the ad is highlighted bold. All the rest of it...

Squealing Sound, Burnt Rubber Smell, Maytag A Series

Possibly. Some pumps can be oiled by removing a plug-screw, add a few drops of turbine oil, replace the screw. Remove the front panel, check that the motor isn't stuck, tension springs or carriage rollers broken/missing. The carriage plate must move freely against the spring tension. Check...

    Cold Wash Warm Rinse Cycle

I believe warm rinsing isn't so much a thing with synthetic detergents as it was with soaps. I expect ATC warm rinse on machines that offer it is not more than 70°F. 75°F is the target on a 1999 KM I have. ATC cold wash is 70°F. The two ATC choices with cold rinse have the rinse being...

    Best washers and dryers

Mom's kitchen was updated in Oct/Nov 2024 with a WP suite (electric radiant cooktop, double wall oven, OTR microwave, FDBM fridge, dishwasher). Replacing a 22+yo GE DW, 20yo WP double wall oven & coil cooktop, 29yo KA top freezer moved to spare/pantry duty, and 49-ish yo KM range hood...

    Cold Wash Warm Rinse Cycle

The only fabric of which I'm aware that laundry doctrine calls for a warm rinse ... or whatever same temp as the wash ... is wool, to avoid shrinkage from thermal shock during (minimal) agitation. My F&P machines run rinse at the same selected temp as wash (tap-cold, controlled cold...

    1974 Copper Tone Lady Kenmore

Mmm, what's going on with the timer? A 14-min Normal cycle, 8-min presumably Knits-Delicate cycle with a cool down, and a 10-min presumably Perm Press cycle *without* a labeled cool down? Or 8-mins is Perm Press, 10-mins is Knits-Delicate?

    Woolite Recall

Mom used Woolite liquid in the 60s into the early 70s for "good clothes." My memory of it is very highly-sudsing. The wash water wasn't slippery, which even then I recognized as an indication of proper conditioning. The suds apparently were expected to do the job.
