@sesteve - nice Hotpoint brochure, did it just focus on the Supermatic or the full range on the front ? Did the Frigidaire pamphlet have a drawn family on the front ? Cheers Keith

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1959 - 1990

Hi Mike, It is amazing how the technological advances in washing machines seemed to jump in leaps and bounds in the early 60's - within 5 years we had gone from Single tub with wringer to Twin tub then to Automatic, I guess if the demand is there that fuels to desire to have the next best...

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1959 - 1990

Hi Mike, Mum had a square Burco boiler (F44 - i think :) with a fleetway wringer from 66-68, then got the 3309L. When all of us (4) moved to my nan’s two-up, two-down in 77, while our house was being built mum gave nan the twintub as the new house had the 1509 & liberator dryer. That twinny...

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1959 - 1990

Hi Mike, Always loved the 3309L, mum’s first twin tub in 1968 after the burco went. Nice charcoal lines :) My 3304E is going off this coming Wednesday to be sprayed, it’s not too bad just a needs a once all over in off-white and the base trim in light grey. Cheers Keith

    Thor Wringer Washer!

That is such a kewl washing action !! I first saw this machine and the “wobbler” washing action when I went to the Lee Maxwell museum in Denver around 2005 I was so intrigued by it, Lee put the machine on and it was fascinating. He said the demonstrators use to paint the finger nails with nail...

Twinline Hose / Hose Restorer... Dear All, Does anyone know any good rubber restorer ? I have a Servis twinline hose in store but every year that goes by it is getting weaker and weaker, I have been using "Son of a gun" silicone spray restorer but just wondered if international friends have...

    A few more twintub brochures

Hi Mathew, I would say the pedal is a brake for the spinner, many of the early spin dryers had a foot brake to slow/stop the spinning, even the Morphy Richards "Astral" had a foot brake into the early 60's. The only UK machine I know of that operated a recirculation wash action only was the...

    British Twintub Washing Machines 1959 - 1990

Hi Mathew, As you say there were many single tub washers on the market who all jumped on the band-wagon once the Rolls washing concept was launched around the very early 60's, cheap and easy to manufacture !! I picked up a brand new Flatley washer some years back, which is now in the loft...

ACme Wringer Washer... Afternoon All, I can't find any reference to the ACME 10/20/30/40 wringer washer being sold in the UK, however I have a sales pamphlet for the Acme Minor dating from the early 60's. Not sure if all the spinners have been found, the pump model is yet to be discovered...

Easter 2020 Classic Appliances Virtual Meet

Hi Mathew, I did wonder if it was Darren’s, he and i were the only 2 that had this type of 1400 - it was only produced for a very short time (maybe a year) before the 1420 was launched to the market. I have to say never heard of the spin guard, new one on me, i have a couple of spares...

Hi Steve, Sounds like a good theory, was the 1420 even deeper gap between the top surround and spin can ? On the on in the pic the gap is the same as all the other 1400’s. When dragging clothes over would it not get in the way ? Interesting, i have a parts catalogue for the 1400’s - will see...

Arhhh ok - I thought it was Darren’s as I know he has one of these very short production 1400’s - never heard or seen that kind of accessory before, is it Hotpoint marked ? Looks great, I need to give mine a run as I haven’t used it for years. Cheers K

    Anybody got a Servis Superheat?

Hi Peter, There is one episode of Darling Buds of May when you see Marriette using her model M / MK42 Servis Superheat. I have had a few over the years, just have the 2 now - the same one as Mariette & and the restyled Superheat which launched in 1958. Cheers Keith

    Washer rebuild

Hey Richard, Nice looking Hotpoint 1500 - only difference I guess is Maytag parts are in abundance whereby 1500 parts are a lot more scarce :( If he came over, he would be here for the foreseeable future with all the machines that need looking at LOL Cheers Keith
