What makes an older Wascomat whistle as it spins up/down?

Just to add my two cents, I agree with Cam and Gizmo above. When the machine is slowing the drum from spin, that is dynamic braking, as explained above uses the motor to slow the drum down. My Kenmore He5t and Miele front load washers also do this at times, depending on the cycle, but it’s not...

Tide and Persil Are On Offer This Week At Rite Aid

Last Saturday I brought home Miele triplets!

Henrik and Nathan, THANK YOU that is a really great tip! I will check that as soon as I get the chance. Nathan, what you described is EXACTLY what it’s doing, in fact one time the pump was running, nothing draining, but some water was still visible in the drum.

Last Saturday I brought home Miele triplets!

Update?   Thank you all for your comments!   Launderess, "Moi" a Miele laundry appliance hoarder?  Umm...... possibly as I might just have 2 or 3!       Austin, I should send you a private message so we can discuss disconnecting one of the heating elements.  Oh the code to get into the...

Cycle Video of New LG Top Loader with Agitator WT7305CV. Heavy Duty Cycle, Deep Fill, 950RPM Spin

Thank you washninja for taking the time to record, edit and post this video. It’s interesting to see the wash action, or in this case, the lack there of, for this washer. Unfortunately, because the auger is rigidly attached to wash plate, all it did was repeatedly pull down, then push back up...

Last Saturday I brought home Miele triplets!

But not just any Miele’s...... these are 7 year old (2013), TOL “Professional” W6065 Plus (Little Giant?) washers! I picked them up in Hollywood Saturday morning. They came out of the home of an extremely wealthy family who apparently owns A LOT of property on and around Sunset Boulevard in...

Excellent Condition Frigidaire 1-18 in San Diego

A little background... It’s a later model, only 2 cycles and a normal lint filter instead of the “bed of nails” filter of the earlier models. Picked it up from the original owners and the only reason they were selling it is because they remodeled their kitchen and put a front loader under the...

    Neptune Washer Tub Light Question

Martin makes a very good point (Hi Martin *waves*) as he would know, being he has so many Neptunes. I’m not in the service industry like John L, but I don’t ever remember hearing about many Neptunes with mold / mildew issues. Who knows if anyone can really say for sure what a contributing...

    Neptune Washer Tub Light Question

Hi Ralph, I hope you’re well through all this craziness! From what I’ve seen with the Neptunes that I have/had, there is no timer for the tub light, it will just stay on as long as the doors open. I agree this was an oversight on Maytag‘s part. The light on the washer does light up the tub...

Residential Steam Ovens part 2: Miele Combi Steam Oven

Ralph: Thanks! And Ralph: I have wiped it out and left the door open to dry it, but it also has a drying program I’ve used that heats the oven for 20 minutes. Henrik: this one has the water reservoirs. Matt, just an FYI, The company Anova, who makes high-quality immersion circulators for...

Residential Steam Ovens part 2: Miele Combi Steam Oven

I came across a really great deal on a 5 year old Miele combi steam oven that I couldn’t pass up. It had been a display / demo in an appliance store. Fortunately I didn’t need to completely remodel my kitchen to install it. I just removed my mid-80’s, P.O.S. 24” Modern Maid gas wall oven...

Shelter At Home Cooking: Show Us Yours!

Ralph, I roasted the cauliflower in my recently installed, (5 year old), Miele Combi Steam Oven! This is A regular convection oven that will do everything a regular oven will do, roast, bake, broil, etc. but can also add from 0% up to 100% steam at temps up to 435°F! I love it so far and have...

Shelter At Home Cooking: Show Us Yours!

About 2 weeks ago, inspired by a post I saw on another site, I decided to try roasting a whole head of cauliflower. Normally cauliflower is not one of my “go to“ vegetables, but I figured what the heck. I found this other recipe that sounded more appealing flavor wise than just a plain...

    Beard Trimmer

I can’t remember what brand my previous trimmer is (the name wore off), but it worked well until corrosion buildup on one of the battery terminals and I’d have to futz with the batteries every time to make it work. I was looking at both Wahl and Braun, but chose the Braun BT 5050 trimmer...

    U.S. coin shortage?

When I went to the grocery store the other day, I went to pay with cash. The cashier mentioned the going shortage, saying they are not giving out (coin) change and asked me if I wanted to donate to change (rounded up to the next dollar) back to the store, or donate to the current charity box...

Yes Dimitris, bring it home! And here’s a video of that same machine running with a plexiglass panel, showing the “magic” inside.

    Heat pump - ventless dryers

Miele vented dryer filter(s) I have five Miele 240V vented dryers ranging in age from 7 to 20 years old and all have only 1 actual “filter”. There are, what they call “grill filters” after the lint filter, but they do little to no filtering. There is not a 3rd filter. I believe the heat...
